Conference on evaluating the effectiveness of pure rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9

On the morning of October 15, Hai Hau Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection Station held a conference to evaluate the effectiveness of the purebred rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 at Ngu Tay field, Nam Bac Duong village, Ninh Cuong commune. Attending the conference were representatives of the leadership of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment), the Economic Department, and agricultural service cooperatives of 21 communes under the management of Hai Hau Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection Station.

Delegates visited the demonstration model of pure rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 in Ninh Cuong commune.

The model of planting pure rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 was organized by Hai Hau Plant Protection and Cultivation Station in coordination with Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company in the 2025 crop season in Nam Cuong commune. The model was implemented on a scale of 18 hours, using the method of transplanting and planting trays; the control variety was Bac Thom variety No. 7. Ngoc Nuong 9 rice was planted from July 11, 2025, with a planting density of 25 clumps/m2; fertilized with 10kg of NK fertilizer + 4.5kg of Urea + 10kg of superphosphate + 3kg of Potassium.

Ngoc Nuong 9 rice variety is a high-quality purebred rice variety copyrighted by Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company. Although the 2025 crop production is facing difficulties due to complicated weather conditions, heavy rains causing flooding..., Ngoc Nuong rice variety grows and develops well.

Field evaluation results show that Ngoc Nuong 9 rice variety is a temperate variety that can be grown in two crops. The average height of the rice plant is 1.15m, about 15cm higher than the control variety Bac Thom 7. The plant is hard, the leaf blade is compact, the leaf is upright, the leaf angle is narrow, and the color is yellow-green. The rice tillers are medium, compact, the leaf is upright; the rice panicles are even, large, long, with many grains, the grains are longer than Bac Thom variety, the weight of 1,000 grains is 21 grams. The rice grains are long, white, clear, not chalky, the rice is sticky, shiny, soft, chewy, and fragrant. In general, the pests in the model are less infected than in the control field, especially brown planthoppers and late-season leaf blight are very lightly infected... However, the flowering time of Ngoc Nuong 9 variety is 5-7 days longer than Bac Thom 7 variety. It is expected that the actual yield in the field will reach 60.6 tons/ha, higher than the control variety of 11.6 tons/ha.

The successful testing of the purebred rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 contributes to helping localities in the province add quality rice varieties to the variety set and farmers have more options for new rice varieties with high yield potential, stable commodity value and consumption market.
