Sugarcane productivity in Tan Ky in some places reaches over 100 tons/ha

Sugarcane consumption is also favorable when farmers have signed contracts to purchase products with Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company. Factory trucks go to the fields to deliver sugarcane to farmers. Farmers hope that sugarcane prices will remain stable to ensure their livelihood.

Mr. Phan Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of Nghia Dong Commune People's Committee said: Sugarcane is the main crop of the commune, the commune has over 160 hectares of sugarcane, this year the yield is outstanding, reaching over 70 tons/ha. However, there are quite a few households thanks to good care, so they can reach over 100 tons/ha (equivalent to 5 tons/sao), currently the whole commune has harvested over 30% of the area.

Thanks to the upgraded and repaired internal traffic system, trucks can easily enter and exit the fields to transport sugarcane to farmers. In recent years, sugarcane has brought quite good economic efficiency, so in the 2024 sugarcane planting season, Nghia Dong commune will switch from ineffective corn to planting 50 hectares of sugarcane, in order to increase farmers' income.

A representative of the Tan Ky District Department of Agriculture said: Tan Ky district currently has nearly 5,000 hectares of sugarcane, farmers have harvested over 100 hectares, with a yield of 68 tons/ha (an increase of 2.5 tons/ha compared to 2022). Among them, many households have achieved a yield of over 100 tons/ha, the reason for the good harvest is that people are increasingly applying technical advances to intensive sugarcane cultivation, especially introducing new varieties such as AK2, AK3, LK 9211...

Information from Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company said that this year's crushing season, the unit started purchasing raw sugarcane, and started production from December 5, 2023. Accordingly, due to favorable sugar consumption prices, this year the company purchased sugarcane for farmers at a price of 1.1 million VND/ton of grade 1 sugarcane in the field (50,000 VND/ton higher than last year), in addition to supporting the cost of loading sugarcane onto the truck at 50,000 VND/ton.
