AgriS proposes to build a research institute and model farm in Gia Lai

DNVN – Not only proposing to develop large raw material areas, Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company also plans to deploy model farms and research institutes to change the face of Gia Lai agriculture in a modern, sustainable and circular direction.

On July 15, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan had a working session with representatives of Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company (AgriS) to discuss investment orientation and development of high-tech agricultural projects in the province.

Mr. Thai Van Chuyen - General Director of AgriS said that the company is currently maintaining 18,500 hectares of sugarcane raw material area, a processing factory with a capacity of 8,000 tons of sugarcane/day. The company develops a circular agricultural value chain ecosystem, including 91,000 hectares of raw material area in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Australia and 200,000 hectares of cooperation in Indonesia. AgriS's product portfolio is diverse with nearly 200 products, mainly from crops such as sugarcane, coconut, rice, banana and exported to 69 countries.

AgriS is aiming to expand the sugarcane raw material area to 25,500 hectares by 2030, increase the factory capacity to 15,000 tons of sugarcane/day and develop about 4,000 hectares of high-tech fruit trees for export.

To achieve this goal, the company plans to deploy a high-tech agricultural demofarm model, build a "model farm" program with sugarcane, and at the same time search for strategic areas and growing areas for high-tech oriented fruit trees.

AgriS proposed that Gia Lai province support the introduction of suitable land funds and connect partners (enterprises, cooperatives, farmers) with large land funds to participate in the implementation of the demofarm program with sugarcane, as well as expand other high-value crops in the locality.

“We also hope to receive support from the province to build an agricultural research institute in Gia Lai to research key crop varieties and apply high technology and mechanization to agricultural production,” the General Director of AgriS emphasized.

Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that AgriS's development orientation is completely consistent with the province's agricultural development strategy, especially in converting ineffective crop areas to high-value crops , developing large raw material areas for effective crops, linking with deep processing and environmental protection.

To effectively implement the projects, Mr. Tuan said that Gia Lai province will focus on developing transport and irrigation infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for businesses in the investment process. On the business side, he suggested that AgriS coordinate to build an agricultural database to analyze and select large raw material areas and specialized crops, while renovating and restructuring ineffective crop areas.

“We propose that AgriS as well as the group’s business ecosystem research and build a number of deep processing factories in the province, implementing the circular problem in production and processing to protect the environment. At the same time, together with the province, we will well implement social security policies, contributing to creating jobs and improving the lives of the people,” the Chairman of Gia Lai province expected.
