Video footage of the attack appeared on June 30. The video shows a Russian Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile accurately hitting a train in the station. According to SF, the train was carrying military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including several main battle tanks. Several German-made Leopard 2 tanks were also reportedly among the destroyed tanks. This Ukrainian military equipment was expected to be sent to the front in Kharkiv.

Just a day earlier, the Russian military had carried out a similar attack in the Zaporozhye region. Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles struck a train used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transport military equipment to the front. Armored vehicles and air defense systems were reportedly destroyed in this attack by the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian Iskander-M missile has a range of nearly 500km. It can be equipped with a variety of conventional warheads, including cluster warheads, fuel-air enhanced explosive warheads, high-explosive fragmentation warheads, ground-penetrating warheads for bunker busting, and electromagnetic pulse devices for anti-radar missions. The missile is highly maneuverable and is guided by a GLONASS-supported inertial navigation system. It can also be equipped with an optical seeker with a digital scene mapping area correlation system for terminal guidance.

Russia has ramped up production of Iskander-M missiles since it began its special military operation in Ukraine more than two years ago.

In recent months, the Russian military has begun to use more of this type of missile so that it can be quickly deployed and effectively used in attacks against high-value military equipment.
