On August 23, Mr. Nguyen Van De, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An Province, issued urgent document No. 186/BCH-PCTT requesting Ban Ve Hydropower Company to operate to reduce flooding downstream.

Accordingly, the Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company is required to operate Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir to discharge water downstream with a flow rate greater than the flood flow to the reservoir to gradually lower the water level of the reservoir.

During operation, if the water level at Con Cuong Hydrological Station exceeds alarm level I but is still below alarm level II or the flow to the lake is from 1,000m ³ /s to 1,200m ³ /s, then discharge water through the project with a flow rate equal to the flow to the lake to maintain the lake water level.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province also assigned the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the province to inspect and supervise the implementation of the operation order in accordance with regulations, minimizing damage to downstream areas.
