Artist Thanh Ngan emotionally sang Me Linh Drum in the middle of Nguyen Hue walking street

On the evening of August 31, during the Golden Bell gala program celebrating the 20th anniversary of the opera, the audience was moved when listening to artist Thanh Ngan perform the excerpt from the opera The Drum of Me Linh.

Full of love for the country

On the recent April 30th celebration, the Cai Luong play The Drum of Me Linh (authors: Viet Dung, Vinh Dien, adapted by the author group Doan Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga, director: People's Artist Ngo Y Linh) by the Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga Cai Luong Troupe was honored as one of the 50 outstanding literary and artistic works of Ho Chi Minh City.

For cai luong audiences, this is considered a classic cai luong work, deeply ingrained in their memories. Audiences can recite every word, every sentence in that meaningful play.

On the night of August 31, People's Artist Thanh Ngan transformed into the character Trung Trac alongside artists who have won high prizes from the Golden Bell of Traditional Opera such as Nguyen Van Khoi, Nguyen Thanh Toan, Lam Thi Kim Cuong, My Van, Le Quoc Phong, My Nhung, Phan Van Nhan...

The artists sang an excerpt from the final part of the play, the scene where Trung Trac sacrificed her husband, Thi Sach. The Eastern Han army captured Thi Sach and burned him at the stake, forcing Trung Trac to retreat.

Although in pain, she had to put aside her personal feelings and perform the ritual of sacrificing her husband to fight the invaders with her soldiers.

This is considered a valuable scene. After nearly 50 years, many artists participating in talent competitions still stage and perform it on stage and on television.

Today, the Me Linh Drum was performed again on Nguyen Hue walking street among thousands of spectators in the atmosphere of the whole country celebrating 80 years of independence and freedom, making it even more meaningful.

Many people were truly moved, their hearts filled with love for their homeland when they were able to relive the old spirit, with their ancestors who sacrificed themselves and stood up to regain independence for the nation.

In the wind and clouds of the city sky, the sacred spirit of the mountains and rivers from the songs and chants seems to echo, making people cherish today's moment of peace even more.

Thanh Ngan mentors young actor Nguyen Van Khoi

With the play Me Linh Drum , artist Thanh Ngan recently performed the entire play several times with young actor Nguyen Van Khoi.

The role of Trung Trac is associated with the name "Queen of the Stage" Thanh Nga. After her death due to a terrible incident, many young artists followed her lead with the character Trung Trac.

Among them, artist Thanh Ngan is mentioned a lot. She is said to have a voice and performance reminiscent of the famous artist Thanh Nga of the past.
