On the evening of November 21, the Criminal Investigation Department of District 8 Police in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City Police temporarily detained the suspect to take his statement. Details about this suspect have not been announced, but it is determined that he is an acquaintance of the victim's family.
Initial identification of the deceased victims was Ms. D. (32 years old) and two children, P. (Ms. D.'s child) and K. (Ms. D. took care of at home).
Through the extraction of security camera images around the scene, it shows that at about 4:35 p.m. on November 21, a young man dressed as a motorbike taxi driver, wearing a mask covering his face, carrying a large can of gasoline (20 liters) in the middle of the vehicle and arriving in front of alley 260 Luu Huu Phuoc street, ward 15, district 8.
At the alley entrance, the man stopped his car and used his phone, then drove into the alley.
According to the initial investigation, when entering the house, this person used a knife to attack Ms. D., causing an injury to her chest. After that, the suspect locked the door, then poured gasoline to burn the house to destroy the evidence. At the time of the incident, in addition to Ms. D., there were 2 other children in the house.
Hearing the screams, neighbors rushed over but the suspect had already fled, leaving his motorbike behind. Neighbors saw the house on fire but were unable to help because the doors were locked.
When the professional fire fighting force arrived at the scene, they quickly extinguished the fire. However, both Ms. D. and the two children had died.
It is known that the suspect was arrested 1 hour after committing the crime. The agency is investigating and taking statements.
