September 2nd holiday, pension payment schedule in Ho Chi Minh City is delayed

Specifically, for cash payment, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office organizes payment at all payment points from September 4 to September 10. From September 11 to September 25, payment will be made at the transaction points of the Central Post Office.

For transfers via bank accounts, Ho Chi Minh City Social Security will transfer money to beneficiaries' accounts from September 4. Payment of pensions and social insurance benefits is carried out according to general regulations of Vietnam Social Security.

At other normal times of the year, the payment time for pensions and monthly social insurance benefits of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance starts from the 1st day for non-cash payment and from the 2nd day for cash payment.

In case the pension or benefit payment date falls on a holiday, weekly day off, or a day off as prescribed by law, the start date for pension or social insurance benefit payment will be postponed to the next working day of that month.

In the first months of implementing this method, there have been some reports of delays in receiving pensions. Specifically, in August 2024, payments through the Ecopay system were made at the same time, the payment system processed a large volume, so it was slow.

The payment process may have situations such as pensions being transferred at the same time but the time the beneficiary receives the money is different because the processing time also depends on the bank where the beneficiary opens the account.

If the beneficiary's bank opens an account in the same banking system as the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, the beneficiary will receive the money immediately. If the banking system is different, it will depend on interbank money transfer.

There are also cases where the money has been deposited into the account but the bank's notification system is slow or does not notify, the beneficiary does not see the message and thinks that the money has not been received. Therefore, in this case, the beneficiary should track the money on the bank's applications to get timely information.

In addition, a common mistake for first-time pensioners via bank transfer is incorrect personal information (incorrect account information, incorrect name, etc.) because the beneficiary's information being managed by the social insurance agency does not match the beneficiary's account information at the bank, resulting in the beneficiary not receiving the money.

In these cases, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance must wait for confirmation from banks about the money transfer order (from 1 to 2 days) and the beneficiary must contact to adjust the information to have a basis for the second payment.
