US-China Foreign Ministers hold talks on the sidelines of the United Nations meeting

The US-China foreign ministers' meeting took place at the Chinese mission to the United Nations, after the White House and the European Union expressed deep concern this week about a Reuters report that Russia had set up a weapons program in China to develop and produce long-range attack drones.

For its part, China has repeatedly warned against US-Taiwan relations, the Pentagon's arms sales to Taipei, and actions that Beijing considers non-compliance with the spirit of the "One China" policy.

Beijing also urged the United States to lift tariffs on its goods and condemned US proposals to ban the use of Chinese-made software and hardware in vehicles circulating in the US on national security grounds.

Biden pledges $8 billion in military aid to Ukraine

Reuters on September 28 quoted US Secretary of State Blinken as saying that he had a "frank and substantive" conversation with his counterpart Wang Yi and emphasized the US's deep concern about China's support for Russia's construction of a defense industrial base in the country.

According to Mr. Blinken, the meeting also included discussions on preventing the flow of addictive drugs into the US and the risks from artificial intelligence.

For his part, Mr. Wang affirmed that China's position on the war in Ukraine has always emphasized the need for dialogue to achieve peace , according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

"The US should stop smearing and fabricating evidence against China, imposing sanctions without basis, and using (Ukraine) to create and encourage confrontations between different factions," said Foreign Minister Wang.

China also affirmed that it did not provide weapons to Russia in the war in Ukraine, while the US is the one that provided billions of dollars in weapons aid to the Kyiv government.
