First, Viettel launched a 5G package, then Vinaphone also announced a trial program for users in October and November.

It is known that Viettel mobile network will officially provide 5G packages in October 2024 with monthly fees starting from 135,000 VND.

Vinaphone said the 5G trial program will take place from October 13 to November 15. If people own a 5G phone, when they pass through an area with signal, they will receive a message inviting them to experience the service. Accordingly, Vinaphone will give away 50 GB of data to use high-speed transmission for 30 days.

In addition, Vinaphone also said it will introduce 5G service products on October 15 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the network's establishment.

MobiFone is the latest network operator to join the 5G race, the network operator said it is deploying and ready for commercialization of 5G. It is expected that users will be able to experience 5G services from November.

Thus, these events mark a major step forward in Vietnam's telecommunications sector. After many years of testing, domestic network operators have successfully completed the 5G network infrastructure, ready to provide high-quality services to consumers. With this commercial launch, Vietnam will join the group of pioneering countries in the world in widely deploying 5G networks.

Previously, on October 7, users' devices in many areas in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces suddenly caught 5G waves, even though this connection technology had not been officially deployed.

Since 2020, all three carriers have been testing 5G networks but have not yet commercialized them. This process only reached its final stage in March when Viettel and VNPT successfully auctioned 5G frequencies, while MobiFone did so in July. According to regulations, the winning bidder must deploy the service within 12 months from the date of licensing and after two years must have at least 3,000 5G broadcasting stations.

To use, in addition to registering for a package, users need a device with new generation network technology. Many phone models from low-cost, mid-range to high-end are equipped with this connection.
