Vietnam has more than 70 million people (out of a total population of 100 million) using the Internet. Vietnamese people often face the problem of online fraud. Fraudsters find every way to take advantage of and exploit the weakest point of people. With sophisticated tricks, the subjects have used psychological measures to gain trust and lead according to the scenario.

The Information Security Department said that in the past 9 months, it has received more than 22,200 complaints from Internet users about online fraud cases.

People will be equipped with 5 main skill groups to fight fraud.

Therefore, the Ministry of Information and Communications has just launched the campaign "Skills to identify and prevent online fraud to protect people in cyberspace". The campaign will be widely deployed from October 10 to November 20. This is an activity in response to National Digital Transformation Day (October 10) and the long-term goal is to contribute to creating trust so that people can feel secure when transacting in the digital environment.

It is known that during the campaign, the Department of Information Security will coordinate with ministries, branches from central to local levels as well as information security enterprises, online service providers, social networking platforms and press and media agencies, to equip people with skills to identify and prevent online fraud.

Specifically, agencies and units need to equip people with 5 main groups of skills listed in the "Handbook of skills to identify and prevent online fraud" including: recognition skills, detection skills, handling skills, prevention skills and protection skills. For each group of skills, the handbook provides from basic skills to advanced skills.

The Information Security Department hopes that the campaign will spread widely and people can apply it when participating in cyberspace.
