At the time of approaching the patient, it was noted that he was in a deep coma, blood pressure was being maintained with two very high doses of vasopressors, respiratory failure with optimal mechanical ventilation. SpO2 index of the extremities was only at 70 - 75% with 100% inspired oxygen.

Assessing the patient's condition as being too severe, doctors from the two hospitals coordinated to quickly consult and deploy ECMO techniques for the patient on the spot. After ECMO intervention, controlling vital signs, the patient was transported to the Intensive Care Unit, Military Hospital 175 for further treatment.

Doctors in the process of life-saving intervention

After 6 days of treatment, the patient's cardiovascular function and organ dysfunction improved, ECMO was discontinued and post-resuscitation care continued. The patient fully recovered and was discharged on July 1, after 18 days of treatment.

Dr. An said that the inter-hospital red alert is a form of emergency treatment for critical, life-threatening cases that exceed the treatment capacity of the current facility. This process helps bring benefits in terms of human resources, expertise, and the best equipment to effectively intervene for patients.
