On September 26, Ho Chi Minh City Military Hospital 175 ( Ministry of National Defense ) informed that the hospital's air ambulance team had just coordinated with the flight crew of the Southern Helicopter Company, Army Corps 18 to safely transport a victim injured in a work accident from Thuyen Chai Island (Truong Sa special zone, Khanh Hoa province) to the mainland for emergency treatment.
Previously, Mr. NNH (born in 1972, from Quang Tri ), a worker working on Thuyen Chai Island, had a work accident.
The victim suffered multiple injuries to the chest and abdomen and was taken to the Thuyen Chai Island infirmary for emergency treatment. After examination, Mr. H. was diagnosed with: 3-hour closed abdominal trauma, intra-abdominal bleeding with suspected liver rupture, closed chest trauma, and fracture of the 9th rib on the right side.
Immediately, doctors from Thuyen Chai Island Infirmary conducted a Telemedicine consultation with Military Hospital 175 .
Doctors determined that the victim was at risk of developing hemorrhagic shock and needed to be transported to the mainland for intensive treatment.
Complying with the order of the Ministry of National Defense, at 1:20 a.m. on September 26, the MB622 helicopter of the Southern Helicopter Company, Corps 18, together with the Air Rescue Team, Military Hospital 175, led by Lieutenant Colonel Pham Truong Thanh, took off from Tan Son Nhat airport to Thuyen Chai island.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Truong Thanh, to ensure the safety of the patient's life during the transport by plane, the Emergency Team fully prepared the following plans: Blood transfusion to prevent shock, mechanical ventilation, pleural drainage, fluid replacement, oxygen therapy, hemostasis and close monitoring of complications such as tension pneumothorax, hemothorax, respiratory failure, and circulatory failure.
In particular, the doctors brought along a full set of medicine and equipment, ready to perform emergency hemostatic surgery on the plane in the worst case scenario.
Although the flight was long and took place in complex stormy weather conditions all night, the flight brought the victim and the Emergency Team to land safely at Military Hospital 175 at 9:00 a.m. on September 26.
Immediately afterwards, the victim was transferred to the Emergency Department, where emergency procedures (Code Red) were quickly activated, and the entire hospital was consulted to make a definitive diagnosis and apply a timely treatment regimen./.
