Nguyen Thuy Linh excelled in the finals of the 2025 Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament

(Dan Tri) - Against a player outside the world's top 100, Kim Min Ji (Korea), Vietnam's number one female tennis player won 2-0 in the semi-finals, thereby gaining the right to enter the final of the women's singles event.

The women's singles semi-final match of the 2025 Vietnam Open badminton tournament between Nguyen Thuy Linh ( world rank 18) and Kim Min Ji (world rank 123) took place this afternoon (September 13) at Nguyen Du Gymnasium (HCMC).

Facing an opponent with a much lower ranking than her, Nguyen Thuy Linh showed much more experience.

In the first set, Kim Min Ji led the number one female tennis player in Vietnam many times. However, Thuy Linh showed her experience and bravery, she came back to win 21-19, closing the first set.

In the second game, Thuy Linh took advantage of the psychological advantage after taking the lead, as well as the support of the home crowd.

Thuy Linh quickly won the second set with a score of 21-16. In the end, Thuy Linh won 2-0 (21-19 and 21-16), gaining the right to enter the final.

Nguyen Thuy Linh's opponent in the women's singles final will be the winner of the match between Cai Yan Yan (China, ranked 107th in the world) and Ashmita Chaliha (India, ranked 211th in the world). The final will take place tomorrow afternoon (September 14).
