Thanh Nam wants contestants to sing 'so well' in Golden Bell of Traditional Music

In the final night of the 3 Golden Bell Awards 2025, judge Thanh Nam continued to make comments that made the audience laugh with delight.

People's Artist Thanh Nam is one of three professional judges of the final ranking round alongside People's Artist Phuong Loan and People's Artist Trong Phuc.

The competition night also had two guest judges, People's Artist Trong Huu and artist Thanh Hang.

Thanh Nam wants contestants to sing vọng cổ so well that their belly button falls off!

The final round 3 on the evening of September 21st will have 5 contestants participating with excerpts from Cai Luong social plays. The contestants will perform this part with the assistance of professional artists.

Contestant Dang Thi Thuy Duong performed the excerpt "The Heart of the Sea" (supporting actors: Lam Tuyen, Dien Trung, Le Hoang Nghi).

In the excerpt, she plays Thanh, a character role. Thanh criticized Aunt Hai for renting a house in poverty and suspected her of having an ambiguous relationship with her father, so she kicked her out. However, it was painful to find out that Aunt Hai was Thanh's biological mother.

Commenting on Thuy Duong's performance, judge Thanh Nam praised her performance, true to her role, good dialogue, and solid rhythm.

Thanh Nam's reminder made the whole audience laugh out loud because of his extremely funny "smell concepts".

Thanh Nam believes that when singing cải lương or vọng cổ, one must be passionate or else the audience will not be impressed. Therefore, whenever a contestant sings with a broken or awkward voice, he immediately reminds them to practice hard to sing sweetly and smoothly in order to win over the audience.

Determine three candidates for the final ranking night

Thuy Duong was the last contestant to compete, but she was selected to be one of the three contestants to continue to the final round of the Golden Bell 2025, the final ranking night on the evening of September 28. Thuy Duong scored 99.05 points.

Receiving the highest score in the third final night was contestant Le Thi Ha Nhu with 99.40 points. Ha Nhu performed an excerpt from Con gai chi Hang with the assistance of artists Thu Van, Thy Nhung, Pham Vu Thanh, Chau Thanh Nhan.

The third contestant chosen to continue was Vuong Quan Tri with 98.60 points. Tri transformed into the character Sang in the cai luong excerpt La durian with artists Nguyen Thi Luan and Le Hong Trang.

During the competition night, judge Trong Phuc expressed his regret for contestant Nguyen Phu Yen . Phu Yen played the character Hieu in the excerpt of the opera Bong Hong Cai Ao , the son regretted his carelessness that caused his mother to die in grief.

Trong Phuc commented that Phu Yen had a beautiful appearance, he performed the excerpt well and emotionally. However, he angrily asked Phu Yen: "Why did your Xe Xang class come in so early? The show hadn't ended yet, why did you come in? That was a very serious technical error, there's no excuse. I'm really sad.

My singing and acting scores are very high, but I have to deduct my technical score.

Judge Phuong Loan was also very sad because she had high hopes for Phu Yen's voice, having worked with Phu Yen before, Phuong Loan assessed that he had good acting ability. However, she expressed regret and hoped that Phu Yen would concentrate when competing or doing anything. She said that this mistake was due to Phu Yen's negligence, and that he needed to learn from his experience.

Because of such a serious error, Phu Yen had to stop at the third final night. Sharing the same fate with Phu Yen was the girl who called artist Binh Tinh her adoptive mother, contestant Nguyen Thi My Duyen.
