On August 17, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 (located in Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang Province) said that during the patrol, inspection and control in the Southwest sea, ship CSB 6003, Squadron 401 received a report from the captain of a fishing boat whose crew member had a work accident and needed medical assistance.
Specifically, at 12 noon on August 16, we received a report from Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, captain of fishing boat KG-94357TS (residing in Dong Hoa commune, An Giang province) about crew member Tran Van Dat (from My Hiep commune, Dong Thap province) having a work accident at sea and needing urgent medical assistance.
Immediately afterwards, CSB 6003 quickly maneuvered to approach, brought the victim to the ship and organized emergency first aid.
Through inspection, the Military Medical Team determined that due to strong winds and waves, while working, crew member Tran Van Dat was slashed in the right hand by a blade of a squid dryer fan, causing many serious injuries.
The victim was treated for bleeding, had 7 stitches, was bandaged, and was injected with painkillers and antibiotics.
At 3:30 p.m. the same day, the victim's health was stable, he was conscious, his pain had subsided and he was handed over to fishing boat KG-94357TS to be brought ashore for further treatment.
The prompt and dedicated actions of the officers and soldiers of Ship CSB 6003 once again affirmed the high sense of responsibility of the Vietnam Coast Guard for the safety of fishermen at sea. It is also a practical and meaningful action, contributing to the achievement of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The Coast Guard Region 4 Command is always a reliable support for fishermen, accompanying them in going out to sea, contributing to firmly protecting sovereignty , security and order and safety in the sacred Southwest sea of the Fatherland./.
