Many meaningful activities at the "Legend of Con Dao" Book Fair

The book fair is chaired by the City Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with the National Political Publishing House Truth, General Publishing House, Youth Publishing House, book publishers, Con Dao Special Zone authorities and related units.

The event was held to affirm the role and importance of books to humanity; promote cultural and historical values through practical activities of profound political-cultural/social significance to welcome the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Delegates, term 2025-2030 and celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution Industry (October 10, 1952 - October 10, 2025).

The exhibition areas at the Book Fair are organized according to the following themes: President Ho Chi Minh; achievements in socio -economic development of Ho Chi Minh City; legendary figures of Con Dao, history, land and people of Con Dao; introduction of books of publishers and distributors. Readers can access thousands of new books in various fields: politics, history, literature, science, education, life skills... through QR codes of the units.

During the event, the organizing committee will carry out exchange programs, discussions on books, reading culture, and introduction of authors and works such as: author exchange, introduction of the work The Children of Saigon in the "hell on earth" Con Dao; introduction of the Nguyen An Ninh digital library - Southern Special Topics; activities to donate Bookcases and develop reading culture for organizations and units in Con Dao Special Zone...

The book fair also has activities for children, along with many attractive book promotions and discounts.

At the book fair, the Organizing Committee also carried out a series of activities to spread "reading sessions" at Cao Van Ngoc Primary School, Le Hong Phong Secondary School, and Vo Thi Sau High School, thereby contributing to training students' reading habits, with topics that attracted students such as: "Talking with the future - reading books with me", "Talking with the future - Letter to the future" and "Talking with the future - My dream".

In addition, the Con Dao Book Festival also has the following outstanding activities: The Opening Ceremony of the Book Festival and the Art Program with the theme "Poems that shape the country" held on the evening of October 4; the visit to Hang Keo Cemetery, Hang Duong Cemetery, Con Dao Temple, Memorial Stele at the historic Pier 914...

In addition, within the framework of the book fair, the organizers will present 15 gifts to 15 students in especially difficult circumstances with a total value of 15 million VND along with 500 notebooks, 350 lanterns, 30 cartons of milk, 2 oxygen ventilators, and 11 boxes of bird's nest.
