There are increasing cases of young people suffering brain damage from vaping, a disease commonly found in the elderly, such as ruptured blood vessels in the brain or cerebral hemorrhage.

Talking about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes, in an interview with Dau Tu Newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen, Director of the Poison Control Center, Bach Mai Hospital, said that recently, the hospital has received many cases of e-cigarette poisoning, including young patients with severe brain damage.

A typical case is a 20-year-old female patient who was admitted to the hospital in a coma, with convulsions, heart damage, and kidney failure. The patient was diagnosed with poisoning from an electronic cigarette containing synthetic drugs, and her brain was severely damaged.

Also according to Dr. Nguyen, there was a case of a patient who was only 26 years old but had a ruptured blood vessel in the brain, like an elderly person having a stroke.

Some other patients, although appearing normal on the outside, when examined, show signs of epilepsy, memory loss, insomnia, and if not treated promptly, can lead to early death.

Experts warn that e-cigarettes are not only addictive products but also pose serious health risks.

Among them, the mixing of drugs into electronic cigarettes is an increasing problem, especially among young people. Dr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen warned that electronic cigarettes are becoming a place to contain synthetic drugs, with the rate of drug use 3.5 times higher than other forms of use.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security , the buying, selling and using of electronic cigarettes containing drugs has become a complex problem, especially in cyberspace and e-commerce platforms.

Criminals often produce e-cigarettes with different names such as Ampire, Wukong, or Bestas, confusing users, especially young people. They can contain synthetic drugs such as marijuana, leading to serious poisoning and risk of death.

In addition, e-cigarettes also contain impurities that, when burned, can cause cancer and lung damage. Especially for teenagers, who have weaker bodies, using e-cigarettes can lead to serious consequences, including epilepsy, memory loss, and respiratory problems.

Speaking more about the harmful effects of cigarettes, including electronic cigarettes, according to Master, Doctor, Second Class Vu Thi Diu, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Respiratory, Hospital 19-8, cigarettes cause rapid skin aging, wrinkles, age spots, puffy eyes and dry, dull skin. The chemicals in cigarettes constrict the capillaries under the skin, limiting blood flow and oxygen to the skin, leading to premature aging.

In addition, smoking is the main cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, asthma and pneumothorax. At Hospital 19-8, there are currently nearly 600 patients being treated for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, most of which are related to active or passive smoking.

In addition to affecting the lungs, smoking also increases the risk of eye diseases, such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and optic nerve damage, which can lead to blindness.

Dr. Vu Thi Diu recommends that people should quit smoking to protect their own health and the health of the community. People who own dogs and cats should be fully vaccinated against rabies, and medical facilities should increase monitoring of patients poisoned by e-cigarettes.

In fact, e-cigarettes can cause serious health damage and potentially death if not treated promptly.

Experts also emphasized the importance of not supporting the sale of e-cigarettes, especially those containing drugs. People need to raise awareness and absolutely not use these products to protect personal and community health.

The use of e-cigarettes, especially when containing drugs, is a serious health risk. Young people need to be warned and protected from these products to reduce their risk of illness and death.
