Vingroup Corporation has just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, proposing to allow the corporation to research and invest in a sea-crossing bridge connecting Can Gio with Vung Tau.
In the document, Vingroup said that after Ba Ria - Vung Tau province merged into Ho Chi Minh City, the formation of a direct connection axis between coastal areas became urgent.
Can Gio sea-crossing road and bridge have been studied and included in the planning by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction. |
Meanwhile, Can Gio and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) areas have strategic locations for marine economy , tourism and ecological urban development, however, currently the transport infrastructure is still limited, mainly depending on ferries and roundabouts.
Therefore, investing in the road and sea-crossing bridge will significantly shorten travel time between the two areas, creating a new traffic corridor connecting functional areas in the City.
At the same time, it creates momentum for socio-economic development, trade, tourism and expansion of urban space.
In the spirit of accompanying the realization of key traffic infrastructure planning, Vingroup Corporation proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allow the company to research and invest in the Can Gio - Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) sea route under the BT form.
Vingroup believes that the approval in principle is the legal basis to initiate the feasibility study process of the Project.
“Vingroup commits to long-term companionship, contributing to improving regional connectivity and sustainable development of coastal space in Ho Chi Minh City,” Vingroup’s document stated.
In March this year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction and the consulting unit that prepared the Ho Chi Minh City Master Plan Adjustment Project studied the Southern Coastal Road Project through Ho Chi Minh City, including studying the investment plan for the Can Gio sea bridge connecting to Vung Tau.
Through research, when building the Can Gio road and sea bridge, the distance will be shortened by about 40 km compared to the detour. However, investing in a sea bridge longer than 10 km is an obstacle because the project requires a huge amount of investment capital.
