The engineering and technology sectors are increasingly attracting women to study, research and assert their abilities. Below are the rare female candidates in this sector who are proposed to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025.

Passion for multi-antenna radio research

Dr. Nguyen Thu Phuong (41 years old) - Head of Information Department, Faculty of Radio Electronics, Military Technical Academy is a candidate for associate professor in the interdisciplinary field: Electricity - Electronics - Automation.

The female doctor received a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, majoring in Electronic Engineering from the Military Technical Academy in 2012. She then received a PhD in the same field and major from the Military Technical Academy in 2016.

Dr. Phuong persistently researches the direction of space-time signal processing for multi-antenna radio systems, with the goal of effectively exploiting channel characteristics to enhance spectral efficiency and improve system error performance.

She also researches and optimizes advanced communication models towards 6G networks, focusing on modern system architectures - from non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), beamforming, to reshaping the transmission medium with cell-free architecture, base stations, and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS).

The female doctor has published 35 scientific articles, including 15 in prestigious international journals, published a specialized book and guided 4 graduate students to successfully defend their master's theses.

Focus on analyzing block cipher algorithms

One of the candidates for associate professorship in Information Technology approved by the Faculty Council of Professors is Dr. Tran Thi Luong (41 years old) - Deputy Head of the Department of Information Security, Academy of Cryptography Techniques.

She graduated with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Information Technology from the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ), and received a master's and doctorate in Cryptography Engineering from the Cryptography Engineering Academy.

Dr. Luong's main research interests are in developing secure and efficient block ciphers and dynamic block ciphers. In addition, she also studies methods for ensuring privacy, data security, and detecting vulnerabilities and cyber attacks based on machine learning.

She won the National Outstanding Female Technology Student Award (Ministry of Science and Technology) when she was a student. Later, she was repeatedly commended by the Government Cipher Committee for her achievements in supporting the team to win first prize in the international competition "Cyber Seagame 2022" and for her outstanding contributions to information security training.

To date, the female doctor has published 47 scientific articles (including 10 in prestigious international journals), published 3 specialized books and guided 9 graduate students to successfully defend their master's theses.

Affirming our capabilities in the aerospace industry

Dr. Le Thi Tuyet Nhung (42 years old) is a female candidate for associate professorship in the field of Mechanics - Power, excellently approved by the Interdisciplinary Professor Council. She is currently a lecturer in the Aeronautical and Space Engineering professional group, Faculty of Power Mechanics, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Tuyet Nhung graduated with a Master's degree in Mechanical, Energy and Engineering from the University of Poitiers (France) in 2007, and continued to receive a PhD in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from the National University of Arts and Sciences (ENSAM), France, in 2012.

She focuses on two main research directions, clearly demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature between mechanics of materials, information technology and fluid mechanics. Firstly, research on design, durability and damage analysis in materials and structures of vehicles and aerospace equipment. Secondly, focusing on multi-physics calculations and simulation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI).

The female doctor has published 50 scientific articles and reports, of which 42 are the main author, 7 are published in ISI/Scopus journals. She also guided 6 graduate students to successfully defend their master's theses.

According to information from the State Council of Professors, in 2025, the whole country will have 836 candidates recommended by the industry's professor council to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor or associate professor. Compared to the list of candidates recommended by the basic professor council, the number of candidates decreased by 97 people.

The Economics major had the largest number of applicants, and also the most rejected applicants – 17 (down from 153 to 136). The Information Technology, Electrical – Electronics – Automation and Earth Science – Mining majors each recorded 10 rejected applicants.

According to the plan, the State Council of Professors will meet to consider recognition of meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2025 from October 20 to October 31.
