Each year, the Faculty of Culture, Arts and Tourism enrolls 300-400 students, training 8 diverse majors: Ethnic folk dance, vocal music, organ, traditional musical instruments, painting, cultural management, tour guide, hotel management... Each major meets the needs of local cultural and tourism development, while contributing to preserving traditional cultural identity. In particular, the number of students studying art majors is always quite high.

Mr. Le Quoc Cong, Head of the Department of Culture, Arts and Tourism, shared: In addition to recruiting students at the school, we also proactively go to secondary schools in the province to search for and discover students with artistic qualities, encourage them to register to study, build a systematic training plan, help them develop their innate talents, and pass on their passion for art.

Art talent classes usually enroll students from the age of 12 and up. This is considered the golden age to discover and nurture innate talent, helping them to be trained systematically and professionally. Based on the assessment of each student's qualities, teachers are the ones to guide them to choose the appropriate major for proper training. With the characteristics of the art industry, teachers not only stand on the podium but also have to closely follow and guide each movement, each posture, each performance skill, helping students gradually develop their own abilities and practice the necessary skills of those who work in the arts.

Along with strengthening training in class, teachers always accompany and create conditions for students to participate in practical performance activities. Every year, the school coordinates to organize for students to participate in 20-30 art programs serving the political tasks and the people of all ethnic groups in the province. Typical programs include the program "Forever the Military March" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army; the art program "Vietnam's Glory" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the art program to welcome the 16th Congress of the Son La Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030... These activities create opportunities for students to learn, exchange, practice performing skills on stage, at the same time, actively contribute to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people and preserving the traditional culture of ethnic groups.

Students practice performing

Dinh Manh Phong, class K60 Ethnic Folk Dance, expressed: Participating in performing activities, especially on big stages, we learn and practice a lot. We not only practice performing but also train ourselves to be confident, brave, master the stage and become more mature after these activities.

Over the past 60 years, generations of art graduates from the faculty have affirmed the quality of training, becoming an important resource for the Son La Provincial Music and Dance Theater. Many students of the School have become meritorious artists, excellent artists, leaders of art troupes or cultural nuclei at the grassroots level.

Promoting the achievements, the lecturers of the Faculty of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Son La College, are still tirelessly dedicating themselves to continue their noble mission. They not only train artistic talents, but also become messengers bringing culture and art to every village, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of the people and embellishing the colorful cultural picture of the Northwest region.
