Kim Thanh farmers petition for early support for damage caused by storm No. 3

Comrade Nguyen Huu Thong, Secretary of Kim Thanh District Party Committee, clarified the reflections and recommendations of farmer members in the district.

On the morning of December 17, comrade Nguyen Huu Thong, Secretary of Kim Thanh District Party Committee, had a dialogue with farmers in the district. This was the third meeting and dialogue in 2024 by the head of Kim Thanh District Party Committee (in September and October, the Secretary of Kim Thanh District Party Committee had meetings and dialogues with people of Kim Lien and Kim Dinh communes).

At the dialogue, farmers' association members of Kim Thanh district reflected that storm No. 3 (Yagi) had severely affected the lives and production of people, especially households building greenhouses for agricultural production. Many households suffered billions of dong in damages, while most of the capital was borrowed from banks. They requested the district to pay attention to promptly supporting households affected by the storm in general and households with greenhouses in particular.

Responding to the farmers' petition, Kim Thanh District Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Thong said that storm No. 3 occurred in early September 2024, causing the district's agricultural production sector to suffer losses of more than 350 billion VND; causing more than 44,000 ^{m2 of} greenhouses and net houses of 7 households to collapse. Immediately after the storm, Kim Thanh district took actions to support disadvantaged families who suffered losses in human lives and property; counted the losses and proposed that the province and relevant departments consider providing partial support. In early November 2024, the district completed the synthesis of proposals to the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and relevant departments to support farmers affected by storm No. 3, and at the same time proposed support needs in the district. In the coming time, when the province's support decision is made, the District People's Committee will promptly and properly pay support.

Farmers' Association of Dong Cam commune requested the district to soon support households affected by storm No. 3.

At the dialogue, farmers of Kim Tan commune also made recommendations on environmental pollution, especially pollution from livestock farms, and requested the district to find solutions soon. Farmers in the district also requested the Social Policy Bank to expand the target group and supplement loan sources under the job creation program, clean water supply and environmental sanitation, etc. so that members who are not policy beneficiaries can access preferential loans. Farmers of Tam Ky commune requested the district to reclaim all land when implementing the site clearance for the East-West axis road project, phase 2, for small, narrow areas that are difficult to cultivate.

The reflections and recommendations of farmers in the district were received, explained, and directed by the Secretary of the Kim Thanh District Party Committee to be concerned, considered, and resolved.
