On the evening of October 9, the leader of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune ( Quang Tri province) confirmed that he had just received a distress call from Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue, the female vice principal and in charge of the kitchen of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School, after a food poisoning incident that hospitalized 40 students.
The petition for help was brought by Mrs. Hue's husband to the Commune People's Committee.
The leader did not reveal the contents of the vice principal's petition, but said that Ms. Hue's petition had many complicated contents. "We have assigned the specialized department to research and advise on how to handle it," said the commune leader.
According to this person, up to now, Vice Principal Do Thi Hong Hue has not yet come to the Commune People's Committee to work with the authorities to resolve related issues as per the invitation. Ms. Hue's relatives reported that she is sick and has to be hospitalized for treatment.
On the same morning, Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee invited representatives of relevant departments such as health, education , and internal affairs to discuss how to handle the case.
"We are reviewing. We will handle any violations to the appropriate level. If Ms. Hue is not present, we will still handle the case based on the test results from the Food Safety and Hygiene Department," said the leader of Kim Ngan commune.
Previously, the Quang Tri Province Food Safety and Hygiene Department had the results of testing food samples at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School on the day of the incident. Among the samples sent to Nha Trang Pasteur Institute for testing, there was a food sample that tested positive for Bacillus cereus bacteria - the agent that causes food poisoning.
Ms. Hue is the person directly in charge of this boarding kitchen. She is also the person who instructed not to take students to the hospital when many of them showed signs of stomachache, vomiting, and poisoning on September 26, causing public outrage.
