On the morning of August 24 (Vietnam time), the final match of the 2025 Monterrey Open in Mexico took place. This was a confrontation between Diana Shnaider and fellow countrywoman Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The 2004-born athlete did not have much difficulty winning the opening set. However, in the second set, Alexandrova won the 5th and decisive break of this set at 5-4 to bring the match to the deciding set.

Third seed Shnaider took the lead early in the third set when she broke Alexandrova's serve. On the deciding point of the third set, Alexandrova's shot went wide, giving Shnaider a 2-1 win (6-3, 4-6, 6-4).

The world No. 12 is now unbeaten in her last five WTA Tour finals. Before lifting the Monterrey title, she had victories in Hong Kong, Budapest, Bad Homburg and Hua Hin last year.
