Cars jammed more than 5km on Phap Van - Cau Gie highway due to flooding

TPO - As of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (September 14), the section of the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway passing through Van Binh commune (Thuong Tin district, Hanoi ) was still flooded. Low-chassis cars had difficulty moving, and vehicles were stuck for more than 5km in both directions.

Traffic jams stretched for 5km. The flooded section was about 200m long, occurring in both directions on the Phap Van - Cau Gie highway. The lanes next to the highway's service road were flooded even deeper than the lanes next to the median strip.

The space around this area is still flooded.

The Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway was partially congested in both directions. The road from Hanoi to the southern provinces was congested for about 5km. On the opposite lane towards the center of Hanoi, a long line of vehicles was in the same situation.

Estimated deepest flooded section is still between 30 and 50cm.

Also here, the highway access road is flooded quite deeply, ranging from 50cm - 1m. Only trucks and high-chassis vehicles can pass through.

In particular, some residential roads through this section are flooded up to more than 2 meters.

Police forces struggled to direct traffic onto the overpass through Thuong Tin town.

The long line of vehicles heading towards Hanoi seemed to have no end in sight.

By 2:30 p.m., the traffic jam seemed to be more serious on the route from Hanoi to the provinces. Today is the weekend so many families have returned to their hometowns, so the flooding on this highway greatly affected the travel route.
