Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien: 'Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is a prestigious playground'

On the afternoon of September 16, at the press conference of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025, Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien (Deputy Head of Labor Relations Department, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) shared deeply about the meaning and value of the tournament.

Representing the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, one of three co-organizers of the tournament along with the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre Newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien affirmed that the tournament has profound and great political and social significance.

He emphasized that the tournament has created a "prestigious, national-scale" playground exclusively for workers and laborers.

Necessary playground for workers

Mr. Kien shared that the lives of workers still face many difficulties and shortages, especially in terms of conditions to meet their living, cultural and spiritual needs.

Therefore, the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament was born not only to improve health but also to be a healthy and useful playground, contributing to improving the spiritual life of workers after hard working hours.

"The tournament has created a healthy and beneficial playground for brothers to practice their health, and thereby improve their spiritual and cultural life," said Mr. Kien.

Not only stopping at the social significance, Mr. Kien also pointed out the value of the tournament for the development of Vietnamese football. He said that the tournament will contribute to promoting grassroots football, creating a solid foundation for professional football.

Quoting assistant head coach of the national team Dinh Hong Vinh, Mr. Kien agrees with the view: "A professional football foundation can only develop sustainably on the basis of a broad and sustainable grassroots football foundation."

The organizers hope that from this playground, grassroots football will develop more strongly, thereby strengthening the country's professional football.

Efforts to overcome difficulties

Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien also particularly emphasized the great efforts and high responsibility of the units to maintain and develop the tournament over the years. In the context that the trade union levels are in the process of streamlining the apparatus, organizing a national tournament is a great effort.

Besides, convincing businesses, which are focusing on production, to create conditions for workers to participate in competitions is also a big challenge.

On this occasion, Mr. Kien expressed his sincere thanks to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Tuoi Tre Newspaper for their close cooperation with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor so that the tournament could take place. Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien sent his gratitude to sponsors such as: Truong Hai Group (THACO), Military Hospital 175 , Central Military Hospital 108 and other businesses that joined hands to support the tournament.

Mr. Kien hopes that, with the contribution of all parties, the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament 2025 will grow more and more, truly becoming a big festival, a meaningful playground dedicated to workers.

In 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre newspaper jointly organized the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. Entering its third year of organization, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual and prestigious playground for workers, civil servants and laborers across the country, contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports, improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.

This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO); Dong Luc Sports Group; HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company; Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company; Sunshine Group; Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO); Faslink Joint Stock Company; 108 Central Military Hospital; 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The tournament announcement press conference will take place on September 16 in Ho Chi Minh City. This will be followed by the Northern regional qualifying rounds, which will take place over three days from September 26 to 28; the Southern regional qualifying rounds will take place from October 9 to 12. The tournament will conclude with the national finals, held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 24 to 26.
