Hanoi started construction of Tran Hung Dao bridge, 2 days to start construction of 2 large bridges across the Red River

The Hanoi People's Committee started construction of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge project across the Red River on the afternoon of October 9. The project has a total investment of about 15,967 billion VND.

On the afternoon of October 9, the Hanoi People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for Tran Hung Dao Bridge. This is one of the projects that Hanoi started on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025).

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Tran Hung Dao Bridge is an important project for Hanoi traffic.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said Tran Hung Dao Bridge is one of 18 road bridges crossing the Red River, part of the capital's transport development plan.

He assessed that the investment in the construction of Tran Hung Dao Bridge plays an important role in promoting the urbanization process of the area, creating a premise for implementing the population dispersion policy and in line with the development orientation of Hanoi along the Red River.

The leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee also requested departments, branches and local authorities to closely coordinate with investors during the project implementation process.

In which, contractors focus maximum resources, human resources and equipment to construct urgently, scientifically , safely, in compliance with legal regulations, ensuring quality, technique, aesthetics and project progress.

Giving the order to start construction of Tran Hung Dao Bridge, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh assessed that the implementation of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge project will gradually complete Hanoi's infrastructure, thereby building symbolic works.

In order to complete the project on schedule, ensuring safety and quality, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Hanoi People's Committee to direct relevant units to promote the highest sense of responsibility during the project construction process.

Mr. Mai Van Chinh also requested that the plans and methods for the bridge construction must be scientific and detailed, ensuring efficiency, quality and smooth traffic during the construction process. At the same time, he affirmed that the Government will continue to pay attention and closely direct the project to complete on schedule and with quality.

When put into use, the project will have a unique architectural appearance, becoming a tourist highlight of the capital, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and improving the lives of Hanoi people, according to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Thus, within just 2 days, Hanoi started construction of 2 large bridges across the Red River. Previously, on October 8, Hanoi also started construction of Thuong Cat Bridge with a total investment of 7,300 billion VND.

Perspective of Tran Hung Dao Bridge

Tran Hung Dao Bridge has an investment of nearly 16,000 billion VND.

The approved Tran Hung Dao Bridge construction investment project includes two component project groups, with a total investment of about 15,967 billion VND.

The project starts at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong - Le Thanh Tong in Cua Nam ward, Hai Ba Trung (Hanoi); the end point connects with Nguyen Son street, in Long Bien and Bo De wards.

The route length is about 4.18km.

The main bridge is 870m long, consisting of 6 spans divided into 2 sections, each span is 145m long; the steel arch structure has an infinity symbol.

The two-way approach bridge is about 1,150m long, with a structure of prestressed reinforced concrete box girder and hollow slab girder.

The entire route has 3 intersections, including the Hong right dike intersection; the Hong and Co Linh left dike intersection; and the intersection with Nguyen Son Street, designed to connect smoothly with the existing road and in accordance with the planning.
