Car carrying more than 30 people home for Tet plunged into a deep ravine

Kon Tum: A sleeper bus carrying more than 30 passengers on Highway 14 plunged into a 20 meter deep abyss, injuring 10 people on the evening of February 3 (December 24).

At around 10:30 p.m., a car with a Dak Lak license plate was taking passengers home for Tet, traveling north to south on Highway 14. When it reached Dak Kroong commune, Dak Glei district, the car suddenly plunged into a 20 meter deep abyss.

The accident caused the car to roll over several times, deformed and severely damaged. Many passengers were injured and panicked, some escaped and used their phones to call for help. The Traffic Police of Ngoc Hoi Station under Kon Tum Provincial Police coordinated with the authorities of Dak Glei District to break down the door and take the victims to the emergency room.

A leader of Dak Glei District Medical Center said that at around 11pm, the unit received 10 people with multiple injuries and broken bones. Of these, 4 serious cases were transferred to a higher-level hospital.

National Highway 14 is 980 km long, starting at Dakrong Bridge, Quang Tri, ending at Highway 13 in Chon Thanh Town, Binh Phuoc . This is a vital route connecting the Central Highlands provinces with the North Central and Southeast regions. The road where the bus crashed has winding, dangerous terrain and many steep hills.
