According to Al Jazeera, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said on October 19 that Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire and establish mechanisms to strengthen long-term peace and stability between the two countries.
The two countries also agreed to hold further meetings in the coming days "to ensure the ceasefire can be maintained and verify its implementation in a credible and sustainable manner".

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the deal, calling it a "first step in the right direction".
“I appreciate the constructive role of Qatar and Türkiye,” he wrote in a post on X network.
"We look forward to establishing a concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanism at the next meeting hosted by Türkiye to address the threat emanating from Afghan territory towards Pakistan. It is important to make every effort to prevent any further loss of life," Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar added.
Earlier, Afghanistan and Pakistan both confirmed they would attend peace talks in Doha on October 18 to seek a solution after clashes that have left dozens dead and hundreds injured in recent days.
