Launching a nationwide campaign to save electricity and a running race in response to the "Earth Hour 2024" campaign

Within the framework of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy for the period 2019 - 2030, on the morning of March 16, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the Launching Ceremony of the National Power Saving Campaign and the Run in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2024, at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi City.

Attending the launching ceremony to mobilize the entire population to save electricity and cheer and encourage athletes to participate in the Run in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2024 were representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; relevant agencies; social organizations, industry associations, the business community and representatives of media agencies.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan called on all people to practice saving electricity at the event taking place on the morning of March 16.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that many activities in response to the campaign were organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade this March, including: Online contest to learn about knowledge on economical and efficient use of energy in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2024 organized on the electronic information platform of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy; calling on the community and businesses to turn off the lights from 20:30 to 21:30, Saturday, March 23; Ceremony to mobilize the whole population to save electricity and the Run in response to the Earth Hour Campaign. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Run in response to the Earth Hour Campaign will contribute another voice, spreading the message "Saving electricity - Making it a habit" to the community. With this message, we hope that all people, communities and businesses nationwide will join hands to protect the environment, save energy, save electricity, and aim for the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 according to Vietnam's commitment at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which Vietnam reaffirmed at the 27th and 28th Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Run in response to Earth Hour 2024 Campaign

The race in response to the Earth Hour 2024 Campaign has nearly 1,500 people, including officials, civil servants, public employees, workers in the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related agencies; representatives of units, social organizations, industry associations; representatives of production and business enterprises; people who love running; athletes from a number of grassroots running clubs... The race is organized towards the community through highly connected sports activities (running movement) to call, motivate, and encourage the participation of state agencies, social organizations, businesses and people to practice saving electricity regularly throughout 365 days of the year, making saving electricity a habit anytime, anywhere. At the same time, it demonstrates the strength of solidarity, creates an environment for people, social organizations, and businesses to have the opportunity to exchange and learn; builds awareness of health training and a positive lifestyle; contribute to improving health, physical, cultural and spiritual health. Within the framework of the Earth Hour Campaign 2024, the Online Contest to Learn about Knowledge on Using Energy Efficiently and Savingly in Response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2024 will be held from March 16 to March 31, 2024.

The Earth Hour 2024 Run is organized in two forms - Offline form: The run will take place around Thong Nhat Park, with a distance of 5 km. - Online form: The run will be organized online through the Uprace sports training application deployed nationwide, expected to take place from March 16, 2024 to March 31, 2024.
