Promoting internal strength, rapid and sustainable growth

Developing medicinal plants, especially Lai Chau ginseng, is expected by the people of Pa U commune for rapid and sustainable economic development.

Accordingly, the Congress Resolution sets a target of an average GRDP growth rate of about 10%/year. To realize the spirit of the resolution, Lai Chau identified economic restructuring as a key task. The arrangement of industries and sectors not only creates new momentum but also improves resource efficiency, aiming at harmonious development of industry - agriculture - services. In addition to synchronous infrastructure development, expanding regional linkages, solutions to improve the investment environment and attract large-scale projects are also key factors implemented by departments and branches.
As a province with rich agricultural potential, up to now, the province has built key products, forming concentrated production areas: nearly 4,000 hectares of commercial rice; nearly 11,000 hectares of tea; nearly 13,000 hectares of rubber; nearly 13,000 hectares of cinnamon; over 7,400 hectares of macadamia; over 8,000 hectares of fruit trees; nearly 144,000 cubic meters of lake fish farming; more than 18,000 bee colonies; over 130 hectares of Lai Chau ginseng. In the coming period, Lai Chau will strongly shift from "agricultural production" to "agricultural economy", from individual production to value chains; develop green, circular, high-tech, organic agriculture, and increase product value.
Comrade Bui Huy Phuong - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment emphasized: "Breakthrough in developing commodity agriculture associated with medicinal herbs and green economy, turning medicinal plants and high-quality temperate fruit trees into key products; linking agriculture with tourism, OCOP and circular economy is a specific orientation of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, the basis for the Department to organize implementation. The Department will continue to advise the province to restructure production, promote land accumulation, apply science and technology, develop clean and organic agriculture, link production with preservation, processing, consumption, traceability, and grant labels for growing areas".
Based on two key economic zones: the dynamic zone along National Highway 4D and 32 develops eco-tourism , processing industry, urban areas and border trade economy; the Da River agro-forestry ecological zone along National Highway 12 and 4H focuses on developing forests, medicinal herbs, tourism and electricity production. Lai Chau orients towards clean and sustainable industry, encourages investment in hydropower according to planning, expands solar power, wind power, pumped storage hydropower. Deep processing of agricultural and forestry products, production of new materials, and exploitation of high-tech minerals are focused on, in parallel with the development of industrial parks and clusters with synchronous infrastructure to attract investment.
Modern services, e-commerce and tourism are potential fields. The province promotes trade, promotes digital products, and expands domestic and foreign markets. Ma Lu Thang border gate economic zone aims to become a logistics center, modern warehouse, wharf, and smart international border gate. Tourism is identified as an important economic sector, with diverse products such as community tourism, adventure sports , eco-resorts, medicinal tourism, and green farming. The province prioritizes connecting tourism within the province with Yunnan (China), investing in essential infrastructure and promoting potential markets.
In addition to the target of an average GRDP growth of 10%/year, the Congress Resolution also sets the target: average income per capita by 2030 will reach about 4,596,000 VND/person/month; local budget revenue strives to exceed 4,500 billion VND. Those figures demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, creativity, daring to think, daring to do of the Provincial Party Committee and government. From synchronous infrastructure development, commodity agriculture, clean industry, to modern services and tourism, all aim at the goal: promoting internal strength, taking advantage of opportunities, making Lai Chau a green, fast, and sustainable breakthrough. This is not only the task of the government, but also the responsibility and belief of the people of all ethnic groups in the province in the new future: a rich, civilized Lai Chau.
