In recent times, in implementing the model of intergenerational self-help clubs for the period up to 2025, Lai Chau province and the Provincial Elderly Association have achieved remarkable results. As of August 31, 2025, the whole province has established 36 intergenerational self-help clubs in 36 communes, wards and towns, belonging to 8 districts and cities (now belonging to 24 communes and wards) in the province, basically completing the plan; bringing the total number of clubs established in both phases in the whole province to 61 clubs, belonging to 27/38 communes and wards (after the merger). 30/36 clubs have lent capital to 216 members of poor and near-poor households to develop production and business to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty with an amount of over 1 billion VND. Members are allowed to use loans for the right purposes, focusing on investing in developing agricultural and forestry production, livestock, service business, tea processing and repaying capital and interest according to regulations.
100% of clubs have established art troupes, 60% of clubs have men's and women's volleyball teams; 63% of clubs have physical and mental health activities, badminton, dancing, and folk dancing. Clubs regularly coordinate with commune health centers to organize communication, health consultation, periodic health check-ups, and provide free medicine for the elderly.
