Fine center for selling functional foods while providing free testing for the elderly

Previously, the People's Committee of Hai Chau District received a complaint from the people about the High-Tech Medical Testing Center VSK Da Nang (address 173 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hai Chau District) showing signs of irregularities in selling functional foods and taking the elderly for free testing.

According to the report, this center brought cars to Cau Nhi block, Dien An ward, Dien Ban town ( Quang Nam ) to pick up elderly and lonely people and take them to the center for medical examination and treatment.

The center announced support of 2 meals/day, free blood testing; the subjects are mainly the elderly, without relatives accompanying.

However, at the center, the elderly are approached by staff who sell functional foods at high prices and charge them on credit if they do not have enough cash.

High-tech medical testing center VSK Da Nang was fined

People reported that two elderly people bought a box of red pine essential oil for 2.5 million VND/box, paid half and owed the remaining amount.

Upon receiving the feedback, the Health Department of Hai Chau District People's Committee coordinated with relevant units to conduct a surprise inspection of the High-Tech Medical Testing Center of Da Nang Hospital.

According to the facility's explanation, while people were waiting for free test results, pharmacy staff advised selling red pine essential oil functional foods, but the incomplete advice led to misunderstandings for customers.

However, during the actual inspection, the interdisciplinary team also discovered many more violations.

Specifically, the Danang High-Tech Medical Testing Center did not post prices of goods and services; the person in charge of the drug retail facility was absent during operating hours.

For the above two violations, the authorities have administratively fined the VSK Da Nang High-Tech Medical Testing Center a total of 9.5 million VND.

VSK Da Nang High-Tech Medical Testing Center belongs to VSK Central Highlands General Hospital Joint Stock Company. This facility has just been established and put into operation.
