Previously, on September 30, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected “Red Rain” by director Dang Thai Huyen, produced by the People’s Army Cinema with high confidence from the National Film Selection Council to participate in the Oscar preliminary round. According to the decision, the People’s Army Cinema coordinated with the Cinema Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to complete the dossier, sending the film versions with English subtitles to the Oscar Organizing Committee before the prescribed deadline. The Oscar is organized by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Choosing “Red Rain” to represent Vietnamese cinema to participate in the Oscar affirms the integration efforts of Vietnamese cinema on the world’s largest film playing field.
