Disgusted because the movie is full of hot scenes
Black Drug aired on VTV3 from September 4, marking the return after 4 years of absence of the crime investigation series in the Criminal Police series. The content of the film is the battle of wits and strength between the criminal police team and cunning, ruthless criminals.
After 3 episodes aired in prime time, the violent, hot and erotic scenes in the show attracted the attention of the audience. It started with a wild party in a bar of the Cityboy group members.
The climax is the collision scene between Tien (Truong Hoang) and Vuong (Tuan Anh). Vuong then vents his anger on Tuyet (Quynh Chau) by slapping, punching, pushing and swearing. The violence is intensified through the act of smashing objects and the sound of broken glass.
The drama gets more intense when, while high on drugs, Vuong rushes towards Tuyet with the intention of raping her. Episode 1 ends with the mysterious death of Vuong - the leader of the Cityboy gang.
In the following episodes and the movie trailer, there are continuously scenes of debauchery and eroticism such as bikini parties at the swimming pool, drug use in a closed room...
Many viewers left comments expressing concern that primetime movies will have a negative impact on young people . “Good movie but easily infects young people’s thinking”, “Movie for young people to follow”, “Drawing a path for deer to run”, “Many Vietnamese movies are abusing sexual elements without very special scripts. Thus, the movies are just to attract views and have no value”, “The movie is ridiculously revealing, not good at all”
“Prime time movies for the whole family to watch, but lately they are all butts and breasts, the content is rubbish, gradually becoming like today's rubbish comedies and sex comedies”, “Crime movies cannot be without violence and hot scenes, but nudity has a stopping point, that is art. After only 1 or 2 episodes, I saw so many hot scenes that I was fed up. There are many ways to address that issue but still avoid excessively erotic images. The station chose to show the wildest, most naked images”, “After all, it is a VTV movie shown in prime time for the whole family to watch, such images are really inappropriate”…
Besides, some opinions defend that the reality of life, hot scenes, violence are rampant on social networks. Therefore, the film addresses this issue like raising resistance to bad and toxic information on the internet.
“Crime films demand no social evils? Is it necessary to ban romance films, comedies, and horror films from having scary elements?”, one comment argued.
The violent and hot scenes in the movie Black Pharma make the audience feel overwhelmed.
The outside society is more terrible than the movies
Sharing at the film premiere on the afternoon of August 22 in Hanoi , director Nguyen Khai Anh, Deputy Director of the Television Film Center, Vietnam Television (VFC) said : "After 4 years, VFC has just released a film about criminal police. This is the time for us to look back at ourselves, investing in both content and script to aim for the best quality. Therefore, from costumes, setting, content... Black Pharma are all carefully invested, promising to bring many surprises to the audience."
In response to concerns about the hot and violent scenes in the film, director Pham Gia Phuong said that he and the Black Pharma crew had thought and weighed the matter carefully. If the criminals in the film were kind, their children would not know that they were criminals.
“The crew discussed with the actors so that everyone could get into character, not having to act out violent or hot scenes over and over again. Because it is a national television broadcast, we understand that we have to moderate it appropriately. Many previous Criminal Police films were much more edgy and were remembered by viewers forever. Therefore, we tried to make a work that would not be ashamed because VFC had films that were loved by audiences like that,” said director Pham Gia Phuong.
Co-director of Black Pharma , director Tran Trong Khoi, affirmed that the outside world is much more terrible than what is shown in the film. "If VFC's products continue to be too safe, too bold, too revealing, when will there be a Vietnamese film shown on Netflix? That is our common mentality when making this film," he expressed.
The male director also hopes that parents will watch Black Pharma with their children every night because although the film has sensitive scenes, there is always a comparison between family and social issues.
“Many types of drugs are not yet called drugs but are harmful to young people. They are very toxic, have great harmful effects but young people only think it brings pleasure. I hope parents will sit down and watch this film with their children to see what the consequences will be if they go in the wrong direction,” director Tran Trong Khoi emphasized.
What do psychologists say?
Responding to Tien Phong about the issue of hot and violent scenes in VTV's primetime dramas, Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Hoa Binh - Director of the Center for Social Opinion (Vietnam Institute of Sociology) emphasized that primetime dramas are a time slot that is prioritized to serve many audiences, including adults, children and minors.
Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Hoa Binh analyzed that cultural behavior has a “guiding” nature for the people. In fact, imitating idols, learning and following artists among young people has become popular. Hot scenes, violence, films that realistically depict love issues, sexual behavior, and the tricks of the underworld… are considered “fishing rods” to attract the public.
Behavior in movies also gradually permeates aesthetic thinking, affecting the thoughts and feelings of the public. Therefore, TV dramas with hot scenes definitely have an influence on young people.
“Bold, nude sex scenes in movies distort the public's aesthetic views and unintentionally mislead education ,” Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Hoa Binh said.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Hoa Binh, culture and arts need to praise good people, it is better to delve into the hidden corners and tricks of life.
“I do not oppose the inclusion of ugliness in society in films. Because from a certain perspective, it has the effect of criticizing and eliminating bad and toxic things. However, if we keep sipping on bad things and presenting them with high intensity, it will make people sink into it, leading to apathy. Directors and actors should be restrained in hot scenes and sensitive scenes. We should reflect them in a conventional way, not in a naturalistic way,” Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Hoa Binh expressed.
