To give parents peace of mind about the boarding kitchen
From early morning on October 17, the lobby and yard of the 19/5 City Kindergarten (94 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) were filled with the fragrant smell of food. Tables and shelves for food and drinks with a variety of dishes prepared in the boarding kitchen were neatly arranged, within reach of children.

This is one of the buffet breakfasts for all students of the 19/5 City Kindergarten, held during the school year to celebrate the nutrition and development week. Many parents come to school to watch their children's mealtimes, observe the dishes, how teachers and school staff prepare food and organize their children's mealtimes.
Ms. Tang Thi Thanh Thuy, Vice Principal of 19/5 City Kindergarten, said that buffet meals for all children in the school are held twice a year (during the nutrition and development week) and at the end of the school year. Children are very excited to participate in buffet meals. Unlike daily meal times - when children eat with the daily menu, right in the classroom - with buffet meals, children can eat together in the whole school in an open outdoor space, and freely choose the dishes they like.
At the same time, through eating buffet, children practice manual dexterity when taking food, learn self-service spirit, discipline in waiting, lining up for food, knowing how to take food in moderation to avoid waste, and appreciating beauty - from the sophistication and meticulousness when decorating dishes...

Ms. Thuy said that to reassure parents about the safety of their children's meals, ensuring food hygiene and safety and nutrition, the school publicly discloses meals, menus, and food suppliers via eNetViet and the school information board. At the same time, the school has a refrigerator displaying the actual food that children eat for breakfast, lunch, and snacks... with the correct dishes and drinks for children's portions. This refrigerator is fitted with transparent glass and is placed right outside the entrance hall so that every parent can easily observe in the morning and afternoon when picking up and dropping off their children at school.
In addition, the school organizes for parents to visit and supervise the kitchen where children's food is prepared to understand the food preparation process, understand the origin of food, and publicize brands and food suppliers to the school.

Parents learn which product labels are used in their children's school kitchens.

Children make drinks to invite parents and teachers
Responding to the Nutrition and Development Week of the 2025-2026 school year, this afternoon (October 21) and on October 22 and 23, the 19/5 City Kindergarten also organized a "Coffee shop" session; Children practice housework with fruit yogurt; a clean vegetable stall... Here, children from all classes, teachers and parents mix drinks, make food, sell vegetables and fruits..., thereby gaining more knowledge and skills about food. Parents also have more information about the food sources provided for their children's kitchen, thereby feeling secure about meals at school.

This afternoon, October 21, children learned to mix drinks. They made the drinks themselves, inviting parents and teachers.

Music Doctor Nguyen Bach, parent of Nguyen Tu Khue (5 years old), said that as a parent, when children are cared for, nurtured, and educated in a school with a good environment, high quality education, meals are public and carefully prepared, and children come home from school healthy, happy, and always want to go to school, that is a great joy and peace of mind.
Ms. Ho Ngoc Yen, parent of Vo Hoang Tue Vuong (20 months old), said that her child has just started school since the beginning of September and fortunately, he has adapted quickly and loves going to school. As a member of the parent representative board, Ms. Yen was able to visit and supervise the school kitchen and see information about the food provided in the children's meals. According to Ms. Yen, transparent and public actions in the kitchen and meals for children make parents feel secure when sending their children to school all day, contributing to building a friendly and happy school.
Kindergartens in Ho Chi Minh City all publicly display the menus that children eat every day, through electronic communication channels, information boards posted at the school, and the school's official website. At the same time, kindergartens now organize open days, inviting parents to eat with their children, become kindergarten teachers for a day, visit their children's kitchens, and participate in preparing food to understand the cooking process at school. In addition to the 19/5 City Kindergarten, kindergartens in Ho Chi Minh City have done well in this activity in recent school years, such as: City Kindergarten (Xuan Hoa Ward); Soc Nau Kindergarten (An Hoi Tay Ward); Son Ca 14 Kindergarten (Phu Nhuan Ward); Tan Phong Kindergarten (Tan Hung Ward)...
