Parents in Ho Chi Minh City accuse teacher of beating student: Teacher admits mistake, school will monitor

Regarding the case of a parent in Ho Chi Minh City accusing a teacher of beating a student, the homeroom teacher of class 2A, Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, Long Hai Commune (Ho Chi Minh City) admitted his shortcomings. The school's Board of Directors has reviewed this teacher.

On October 9, speaking with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep, Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, Long Hai Commune (HCMC), said that the school had disciplined teacher TVH, homeroom teacher of class 2A, due to his involvement in a petition from parents in the class reporting that the teacher had insulted and beaten students.

Previously, on October 7, Long Hai Commune Police, the school's Board of Directors and many parents had a meeting regarding the above petition.

At the meeting, Mr. TVH, homeroom teacher of class 2A, acknowledged his shortcomings and pledged to change, overcome them, and not repeat the offense.

The school board also admitted its shortcomings in not promptly handling Mr. H. to allow parents to report. In the near future, a meeting will be held to review Mr. H. and manage and supervise his teaching.

After the incident, the school's Board of Directors and Disciplinary Council reviewed Mr. H. "The school hopes for the understanding of parents so that Mr. H. has the opportunity to correct his mistakes. In the coming time, the Board of Directors will go directly to the classroom to stabilize the students' spirit and regularly monitor the teacher's teaching process...", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, said at the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the school board and teachers agreed to let Mr. H. continue to be the homeroom teacher of class 2A.

During the teaching process, the Board of Directors will monitor Mr. H. If there is any incident related to Mr. H., the parents' request to change the homeroom teacher will be carried out.

As Thanh Nien reported in the article "Parents in Ho Chi Minh City accuse teacher of beating student, teacher said 'just lightly on the hand...''', many parents of students in class 2A, Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, Long Hai Commune (Ho Chi Minh City), were upset because teacher H. used threatening words and beat students, causing bruises on their arms and legs.

Mr. H's behavior makes students afraid to go to class, mentally pressured, showing signs of fear, and even not wanting to continue studying at school.

Many parents whose children were beaten met with the Board of Directors of Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School to ask the school to change teachers and classes, but were not approved. Afterwards, the parents filed a complaint about the beating of their children by Mr. H. to the Long Hai Commune People's Committee, requesting that it be handled according to regulations.

Speaking over the phone with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, teacher H. said that the content of the teacher's petition had been handled by Long Hai Commune People's Committee, and teacher H. himself also knew the content of the petition.

Mr. H. affirmed that during the teaching process, he did not use insulting or threatening words to students. Mr. H. said that he only used a plastic ruler to gently tap the students' hands to help them write. When the students turned their backs to talk during the lesson, he used a plastic ruler to gently tap the students' backs to help them sit in the correct posture.

On the morning of October 6, Long Hai Commune Police took statements from students in the presence of representatives of Long Hai Commune People's Committee, school principals and parents.

That same afternoon, Long Hai Commune Police invited parents who had filed complaints about the homeroom teacher beating their children to take them to the police station to continue taking statements.

At the meeting on October 7 with the school's Board of Directors, the homeroom teacher of class 2A and the students' parents, a representative of Long Hai Commune Police said that the verification of the petition showed that Mr. H. had used a plastic ruler to impact some students because they did not comply with school rules.
