When the floodwaters had just receded, many roads and schoolyards in Yen Bai ward were still covered in mud. At the schools, the sound of bulldozers and high-capacity pumps mixed with the calls of teachers, parents, students and support forces created a busy, urgent atmosphere with the determination to quickly return schools to normal learning.

As one of the schools heavily affected, before the storm, Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School proactively moved all desks, chairs, and equipment to the second floor, helping to minimize damage.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Phuong - Principal of the school shared: With the motto of cleaning up wherever the water recedes, from early this morning, when the water began to recede, teachers and parents quickly cleaned up the school. Each person contributed, from cleaning the classroom to clearing mud in the yard to prepare a clean, safe environment to welcome the children back to school.

At Ly Thuong Kiet High School, the circulation of storm No. 10 passed, leaving behind 4,000 cubic meters of mud covering the school yard and all the classrooms on the first floor. Immediately after the water receded, nearly 800 officials, teachers, parents, students, along with police, military, road and bridge companies and teachers from other schools in the area were present to assist in the cleanup.

Mr. Ma Dinh Khai - Principal of the school said: We are very touched to receive support from the police, army and other schools to overcome the consequences of the storm and flood. Thanks to the specialized vehicles of the police, bridges and roads, clearing mud in the school yard is less difficult. This morning, many basic classrooms were cleaned. Once the school yard is cleaned, we will disinfect the entire campus to welcome students back.
At Nguyen Phuc Kindergarten III, the outdoor playground was buried in mud. Firefighters and rescuers from the Provincial Police and Division 355 directly participated in the cleanup, helping the school quickly stabilize. Principal Bui Thi Phuong Nga emotionally said: "Seeing the playground gradually being cleaned up, we have more motivation to welcome the children back to class soon."

Not only teachers and authorities, but also parents stand side by side with the school during difficult times. Mr. Vu Cong Vien - Chairman of the Parents Association of Grade 1, Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School shared: Even during the stormy days, I was on duty at the school with the Board of Directors. Wherever the water receded, we pushed the mud out. Our biggest wish was to clean up quickly, cleanly, and disinfect so that the children could return to school in the safest conditions.
According to statistics, the entire Yen Bai ward has 33 schools, of which 5 schools were heavily affected by storm No. 10, including: Hong Thai Primary School, Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School, Yen Ninh Primary School (site 2), Nguyen Phuc Kindergarten III, Sao Mai Kindergarten and Ly Thuong Kiet High School.
Behind the urgency is the decisive leadership of the local government. Ward leaders were directly present at the schools to encourage and motivate teachers and parents, adding confidence and spiritual strength to the forces that are working day and night to overcome the consequences.
As soon as the water receded, we asked the schools to immediately mobilize forces and coordinate with functional units to clean up. The spirit was not to let the schools be delayed for too long, but to urgently let the children return to school safely. The ward People's Committee assigned specific tasks to each force, arranged support vehicles, and regularly inspected and urged progress at the schools.
Although there is still much to do, such as disinfecting classrooms and repairing auxiliary facilities, with the solidarity of the government, teachers, parents and students, the children will certainly soon be able to return to school in safe conditions.
