On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, besides war films and grand national concerts, the musical film Letter to the Future produced by the Arts Department of Vietnam Television brought a gentle impression, contributing to enriching the artistic activities in the A80 celebration.

Not only taking on the film's soundtrack, Le Minh Ngoc also transformed into the role, marking his transition from folk music to chamber music (Photo: Organizer).

In Letter to the Future , the 2022 Sao Mai folk music champion takes on the role of lead singer and transforms into two characters: Ngoc, a young student struggling to find her artistic path, and Mrs. Nho from her youth.

Ngoc is a Conservatory student who is struggling and lost on her artistic path. While still thinking about the road ahead, she received news that her grandmother was sick so she hurriedly returned to her hometown. During the days of taking care of Mrs. Nho (People's Artist Lan Huong), Ngoc accidentally discovered letters that Mr. Tam - Ngoc's grandfather - had sent to his daughter, Mrs. Nho.

Determined to help her grandmother fulfill her last wish of finding Mr. Tam's grave, she used social media to connect, find old comrades and bring the martyr's remains back to her hometown...

In the film, Le Minh Ngoc performs many songs that have been around for years such as: Ba Dinh sunshine (1947), Bo dot ve lang (1950), Nguoi chien si ay (1969), Tu nguyen (1968), Mua xuan tren que huong (1976)... and the ballad Cha va con gai (Nguyen Van Chung).

Instead of sticking with folk music, the genre that made his name, Le Minh Ngoc chose chamber music.

At the press conference to launch Letter to the Future on the afternoon of September 17, when asked about switching from folk music to chamber music, whether he was worried about losing his familiar audience, Le Minh Ngoc shared: “After winning the Sao Mai 2022 Championship, I decided to pursue chamber music.

When I sing chamber music, I feel more like myself. In 2023, I participated in the National Chamber Music Competition and won First Prize, which made me more confident to continue on this path.

Therefore, when I was invited to participate in Letter to the Future, I considered this a special opportunity to show gratitude to my country and also a milestone in my career."

Sharing at the event, People's Artist Quang Tho, Le Minh Ngoc's mentor, could not hide his pride: "I rarely watch musical films, I mostly only watch classic foreign films. But when I watched Letter to the Future , I felt that Ngoc had the courage to become a movie star, not just an ordinary singer. This role is only for real actors, and she did it."

Letter to the Future directed by Lam Ha. She has made her mark with war-themed musical products such as Cuc Oi (Meritorious Artist To Nga) about 10 girls at Dong Loc Crossroads or Sending in Memory (Meritorious Artist To Nga) about a daughter's feelings for her martyr father.

Le Minh Ngoc currently works at the Army Music and Dance Theater. She won the 2022 Sao Mai First Prize in folk music and the 2023 National Chamber, Opera and Choir Singing Competition.
