Quang Nam proposes the Ministry of Transport to continue implementing the National Highway 40B project through Tam Ky.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the project to upgrade and expand the road connecting National Highway 1 to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway and the coastal road of Quang Nam province (part of National Highway 40B) is invested by the Ministry of Transport , and Project Management Board 5 is assigned to manage the project. The Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee authorized and assigned the People's Committee of Tam Ky City and Phu Ninh District to be the investors of the sub-projects of compensation and site clearance. The section through Tam Ky includes Tam Phu commune, Hoa Huong ward, An Son ward, Tam Ngoc commune and Truong Xuan ward.

On November 3, 2021, Tam Ky City People's Committee issued a record of the final handover of the site to the investor; the site clearance work is considered complete. Currently, the construction sections and routes through communes and wards are still unfinished, seriously affecting traffic safety.

Since the end of 2021, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province has requested Project Management Board 5 to continue construction. However, according to the Report of the Director of Project Management Board 5 at the working session, due to the nature of the adjusted capital source, it is necessary to re-establish investment documents and procedures and re-select contractors to implement the project. It is known that up to now, Project Management Board 5 has not submitted for appraisal and approval of investment policy adjustments, investment project adjustments to carry out the next procedures, re-select contractors to carry out construction, and the time to carry out these procedures is prolonged. Therefore, up to now, it has not been possible to continue construction and complete the entire project.

Regarding this content, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province issued Official Dispatch No. 3979 dated June 21, 2022, continuing to request the Ministry of Transport to allow the project to continue and direct relevant units to urgently complete investment documents and procedures, and organize the selection of construction contractors to implement the project. While waiting for the opinion of the Ministry of Transport, the People's Committee of Tam Ky City is assigned to proactively deploy solutions to ensure traffic safety for people traveling through Huong Son block, Hoa Huong ward.
