Quang Ninh is a locality that has carried out the measles vaccination campaign well.

On the morning of March 27, the Government's working delegation led by Comrade Dao Hong Lan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Health , had a working session in Quang Yen town, directly inspected the work of measles prevention and control and deployed the measles vaccination campaign in the town and Quang Ninh province.

Receiving and working with the delegation, on the Quang Ninh province side, there was comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of the Department of Health, related medical units; leaders of the People's Committee of Quang Yen town.

Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has recorded 195 cases of measles. Of these, over 70% have not been vaccinated, over 12% have unknown vaccination history, and over 16% have received at least one dose of measles vaccine. The entire province has not experienced an outbreak like many other localities in the country.

In order to increase the measles immunity rate in the community, from March 21, Quang Ninh province has resolutely implemented a measles vaccination campaign in all localities in the area. The province has established 190 vaccination teams in communes, wards, towns and at 3 hospitals: Provincial General Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Vietnam - Sweden - Uong Bi to implement the vaccination campaign; established 45 emergency teams on standby at hospitals, district, town and city medical centers.

The province currently has 200 vaccination sites, including 179 expanded vaccination sites at health stations, 3 vaccination sites at hospitals and 20 vaccination sites at schools. The total measles vaccine source currently available in the province is 42,550 doses, enough to deploy the campaign across the province. Quang Ninh province will strive to complete the measles vaccination campaign in the province before March 29, 2025. The campaign's goal is to vaccinate over 95% of children from 6 months to 10 years old who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine; proactively prevent epidemics, reduce morbidity and mortality rates, and prevent outbreaks.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh affirmed that Quang Ninh province has identified measles vaccination as an important solution to prevent the disease. Therefore, the province has proactively reviewed and developed a thorough vaccination plan; at the same time, resolutely directed the organization of a mass vaccination campaign in the province. The vaccination process ensures safety and science, each vaccination site has a full emergency team with sufficient capacity throughout the vaccination process. With the strong direction of the Government, along with the active support in many aspects of the Ministry of Health and the determination of Quang Ninh province, up to now, the measles vaccination campaign in the province is being effectively implemented.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that Quang Ninh will continue to closely follow the Ministry's instructions, continuously and regularly review subjects, synchronously deploy both preventive medicine and medical examination and treatment, strive to ensure no disease outbreaks, and take good care of people's health.

After inspecting the actual implementation of measles vaccination at Hiep Hoa Commune Health Station, Quang Yen Town Health Center and listening to the report of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Health, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan highly appreciated the special attention of Quang Ninh Province for the work of protecting and taking care of people's health, thereby stabilizing the safe area, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development. The successful implementation of the measles vaccination campaign in Quang Ninh demonstrates the province's spirit of proactively preventing epidemics early and from afar.
