In the context of increasingly widespread digital transformation and automation, the team of workers and technical workers is gradually asserting its role as a central force in the application of science and technology and innovation; contributing to improving productivity, product quality and competitiveness of enterprises.

Mr. Nguyen Tai Hai, Head of the Roller Team, Production Division (Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin) operates the CNC milling machine to produce rollers.

At Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company (Vinacomin), Mr. Nguyen Tai Hai (36 years old), Head of the Roller Team in the Production Division is one of the typical examples. Not only mastering modern equipment, he also actively researches and improves techniques to rationalize production, save costs and increase efficiency.

In 2024, Mr. Hai implemented the initiative: "Research and manufacture of fixtures for processing roller shafts on CNC milling machines". Previously, milling machines could only process 20 rollers of the same size per operation, limiting productivity and flexibility. Taking advantage of many years of experience, Mr. Hai and his colleagues created a new fixture, allowing the processing of many different types of rollers, while increasing productivity by 3 times. This initiative helps businesses save about 250 million VND in production costs each year.

Similarly, at Trang An High-class Brick and Tile Factory (belonging to Dat Viet Ceramic Joint Stock Company), Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet (48 years old), Galley Team - Shaping Workshop, is also a shining example in the creative labor movement. With more than 10 years of working experience, Mr. Quyet skillfully operates the galley forming machine system and CMKI extrusion machine serving the automatic decoration line.

From production practice, he proposed to improve the extrusion mold to feed 5 blanks simultaneously for 5 decorative stamping machines. Previously, each production shift required 4 workers and the mold had to be disassembled frequently due to design changes. The new initiative not only helps reduce the number of workers to 2 people/shift, but also saves operating time and material costs, bringing about 34 million VND/year in profit to the company.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Ceramics Joint Stock Company, Labor Hero Nguyen Quang Mau, shared: “We encourage initiatives that originate from simple things so that today we must do better than yesterday; the same job but shorten the time or reduce the workload. That is the meaning of technological improvement”. From that awareness, the emulation movement for technical innovation initiatives has spread widely in workshops and production teams launched by the Company's Trade Union. Many practical technical topics have been born, promoting the process of mechanization and automation, reducing hundreds of direct laborers and significantly improving working conditions for workers.

More preciously, many great initiatives started with small steps, in limited financial conditions. These were “make-do-it-yourself” investments, sometimes personal assets were mortgaged to serve the research and testing of new technology. There was hardship and pressure, but also joy because each step of improvement was a solid step forward, from a craftsman to a technology master, master of one’s own future.

Faced with the increasing demands of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, mastering technology and improving technical skills have become mandatory requirements for workers if they do not want to be "left out of the playing field" of the global labor market. From that reality, trade unions at all levels in the province have actively launched emulation movements to improve productivity, promote initiatives and creativity in production. Many grassroots trade unions in Quang Ninh have proactively consulted with employers to create conditions in terms of time, funding, and learning opportunities for workers to access new technology, gradually improve their skills, and master modern equipment.

With the support of the trade union and the spirit of overcoming difficulties and constant creativity of the workers and laborers in the province today, they are not only the implementers but are gradually becoming the creators of production efficiency and sustainable development value for the enterprise.
