The town of Saas-Fee is located on the Alps plateau and is famous for its magnificent scenery.

Saas-Fee is located 200km from the Swiss capital Bern, about two hours by train to Visp and about an hour by bus. This is a famous town for skiers. Every winter, especially Christmas, many people visit here to immerse themselves in the white space of snow, warm wooden houses and vast pine forests halfway up the mountain. This town is located on the Alps plateau, not only famous for its spectacular scenery and attractive skiing activities but also known as a symbol of green life and environmental protection, demonstrated through the harmony between tourism and natural protection.

Zero emission village

Saas-Fee, known as the “Pearl of the Alps”, has developed a model of sustainable tourism where the preservation of the natural environment is a top priority. The town has made significant strides in reducing its environmental impact by restricting private transport and encouraging the use of electric vehicles. This has earned Saas-Fee the nickname “Zero-Emission Village”.

One of the features of Saas-Fee is the ban on fossil fuel cars in the village. This helps to preserve the clean air of the area and at the same time creates a peaceful and safe space for tourists and locals. To move around the village, residents and visitors use electric cars, walk or ride bicycles, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Since 1951, the local government has banned all motor vehicles to avoid environmental pollution. All public transport such as buses and freight cars are powered by electricity.

Use renewable energy and conserve biodiversity

The small town of Saas-Fee not only cares for and protects the environment but also strives to preserve biodiversity. The area is home to many endemic species of flora and fauna, and the village has established nature reserves to protect these species.

Guided wildlife viewing tours are also available, allowing visitors to explore the area's biodiversity without disturbing the natural environment.

Developing sustainable ecotourism

Ecotourism is an important part of Saas-Fee. The village offers visitors the opportunity to experience nature through activities such as hiking and mountain climbing, while maintaining a balance with the natural environment.

Right on the top of Allalin is a revolving restaurant considered the highest in the world at an altitude of 3,500m and is included in the list of restaurants with the most beautiful views by many magazines.

Not only famous for its ski resort, Saas-Fee also owns the most beautiful hiking route in Europe. Following the cable car to the top of Hannig mountain at an altitude of 2,340m, visitors can walk back down the mountain by the trail and admire the blue sky mixed with the mountains and the green of the pine forest.

Saas-Fee also focuses on raising environmental awareness among the community and visitors. Regular educational programs on environmental protection and sustainable development are held to help people better understand the importance of protecting nature.
