Closely monitor each sub-project of the National Target Program for Ethnic Minority Areas

BTO-On January 30, the Provincial Ethnic Committee held a Conference to summarize Ethnic work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024. Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

In 2023, the ethnic work in the province has been closely and comprehensively directed by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee; the synchronous coordination of departments, branches and localities has created favorable conditions to promote the socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas. The Provincial Ethnic Committee has proactively and closely coordinated with departments, branches and localities to complete 11/11 main tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, with targets exceeding the set plan, the ethnic minority areas continue to develop, and political security is maintained.

Overview of the conference

During the year, the locality continued to fully implement policies to support production development, thereby basically stabilizing the production situation and life of ethnic minorities. The political system in ethnic minority areas was regularly consolidated, the life and income of ethnic minorities were improved; education , health care, and culture had many positive changes; cultural activities, sports, and traditional festivals of ethnic groups were maintained, contributing to preserving, conserving, and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.

By December 31, 2023, the number of poor ethnic minority households was 2,037, accounting for 7.73% of the total number of ethnic minority households, a decrease of 764 households compared to the beginning of 2023. The number of near-poor ethnic minority households was 2,827, accounting for 10.73%, a decrease of 514 households. Up to now, 100% of communes in ethnic minority areas have paved roads leading to the commune center; 6/17 communes in ethnic minority areas have been recognized as meeting new rural standards; 100% of communes are covered by television and radio; 98% of households use the national grid; 88.3% of households use clean, hygienic water... The vast majority of people are assured, trust and comply well with the Party's policies and the State's laws and policies. Thereby, it has aroused the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, emulation in labor production, built the great national unity bloc, and strengthened the people's trust in the Party and State.

Speaking at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the results achieved in ethnic work. At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that with the shortcomings and limitations, there must be high determination to complete better. Regarding the tasks in 2024, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the significance and importance of the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that during the implementation process, the Provincial Ethnic Committee must closely follow each sub-project; regularly work with localities and units assigned large capital to promptly resolve difficulties. In addition, strive to disburse 100% of the planned capital for 2022 and 2023 and focus on disbursing the capital plan for 2024. Guiding documents for units and localities to implement projects must be specific, clear and easy to understand.

Along with that, pay attention to propaganda work, coordinate to grasp the situation at the grassroots level; advise and propose implementation solutions, focus on promoting the role of prestigious people in ethnic minority areas to be the real core, a bridge to propagate the Party and State's policies and laws to the people. The propaganda of projects, programs and plans must closely follow the actual situation, local customs and practices and the characteristics of each region, creating motivation for ethnic minorities to rise up. Well implement policies to support production development, invest in advance to provide timely seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and pay attention to ensuring quality to serve the production effectively for the people. Regarding strengthening the organization and apparatus, it is necessary to innovate content, focus on training, fostering and improving the capacity of cadres doing ethnic work; do a good job of administrative reform.
