The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said it had requested the Cau Giay District Department of Education and Training to specifically report on the press reporting that a first-grade student from Archimedes Academy Primary School was forgotten in a car during a field trip from Gia Lam District (Hanoi).

According to a report from Archimedes Academy Primary School, on June 22, students participated in a picnic in Bat Trang (Gia Lam District) as planned and returned to school at 12:10. The bus stopped for about 10 minutes to drop off the students, and the teacher neglected to take attendance when getting off the bus, resulting in missing a student who was sleeping on the bus.

At around 12:30, the teacher discovered that a student was missing, so the teachers split up to look for him and contacted the driver. At 12:40, the teacher received information from the driver and the student's mother at the same time. The driver immediately took the student back and arrived at the school at 12:45. At this time, the student's mentality was stable.

The school board met with the student's parents to apologize. The student's parents wanted their child to continue studying at the school and wanted the incident to stop so that the child could stabilize his/her studying psychology.

On the school side, the Chairman of the Board of Directors convened an urgent meeting of the Board of Directors and relevant staff to learn from experience and review the steps. The School Board of Directors then reported the incident to the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Cau Giay District; established a disciplinary council for teachers who violated the regulations; held a meeting with all student management staff and teachers to strengthen control over student pick-up and drop-off activities.

Hanoi is a locality where there have been a number of incidents of students being left behind on school buses as well as accidents and unsafe conditions during field trips and picnics, causing heartbreaking consequences.
