Lam Dong Department of Education and Training deploys tasks for the new school year

On the morning of August 22, Lam Dong Department of Education and Training held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the new school year 2025-2026.

Representatives of leaders of departments and branches of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee attended the Conference.

Attending the conference were Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Pham Thi Hong Hai, Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Thi Bich Lien and more than 300 directors, principals, and students of high schools, career guidance, vocational training, and continuing education facilities in the province.

Reporting at the Conference, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province, said: As of August 10, 2025, after the merger, the entire education sector has 1,605 educational and training institutions.

Along with that, the Department of Education and Training has taken over the task of vocational education (VET) from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, including 87 VET establishments.

The 2024-2025 school year takes place in the context that the entire industry and political system are implementing the Party and State's major policies on reorganizing the apparatus, streamlining focal points, and converting the state administrative management model between two-level local governments.

In the 2024 - 2025 school year, Lam Dong province has achieved outstanding results such as: The network of educational facilities at all levels has been rearranged, reorganized, and arranged more appropriately than planned; the work of building schools that meet national standards has met the set plan; the work of developing a team of teachers and managers has been organized by the education sector to train and send them for training to improve their standards, meeting the teaching requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.

The province's education quality continues to improve, notably: firmly maintaining universal education results at all levels, the rate of mobilizing students to attend classes exceeds the target at all levels and grades; the rate of students passing high school graduation in 2025 and the average score of high school graduation exams in 2025 are higher than in 2024.

In the national excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year, Lam Dong province had 97/256 students winning prizes; including 1 first prize: 11 second prizes, 22 third prizes, and 63 consolation prizes.

In particular, last school year, student Dang Huy Hau, class 10, Information Technology, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Da Lat, won the first prize and was the valedictorian of the National Excellent Student in Information Technology; ranked second in the national team selection exam to compete in international and regional Olympic competitions, won the Silver Medal at the Asia-Pacific Olympic Informatics Competition and the Silver Medal at the International Informatics Olympiad (IOI) 2025 held in Bolivia.

In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the efforts and dedication of the education sector in the past school year; at the same time, congratulated the team of cadres, teachers, civil servants and workers in the sector for the impressive achievements they have made.

However, in the face of high demands for comprehensive education quality, the province's education and training work still has shortcomings and limitations: Conditions to ensure education quality, especially the quality of education in ethnic minority areas, remote and isolated areas, have not kept up with areas with favorable socio-economic conditions; facilities and equipment, although invested, are still lacking and not uniform, some equipment has degraded, damaged, and has not been repaired or replaced;

There is still a shortage of teachers compared to the number of classes and students, especially at preschool and primary levels, and for English and IT teachers; the capacity and sense of responsibility of a number of teachers have not yet met the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.

Coordinate with the Department of Finance, People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to prioritize investment in school facilities, purchase teaching equipment, and focus on investing resources to build national standard schools associated with national target programs on new rural construction.
