The first question a 10th grader asked: If you could change only one thing to make school happier, what would it be?
Mr. Le Xuan Trung, Vice Principal in charge of Le Loi High School, said: “Schools in general and teachers in particular must constantly change themselves and change their teaching methods to create a more attractive educational environment. Students need to change their perceptions, thinking, and learning and training methods. Schools, teachers, and students build a friendly, respectful teacher-student relationship and stimulate students to love learning. In conditions of respect and safety, students will be happy to go to school.”
Representing 11th grade students, Tra My asked the school leaders: What solutions can reduce the difficulties and pressure when taking exams, especially the upcoming final exams and capacity assessments?
The school representative said that first, students must determine the major and school they will study. This choice must be appropriate to the student's ability. Students themselves need to have their own learning methods, in addition to the support of teachers. However, while trying to study hard to achieve their dreams, they need time to rest and relax. Students should participate in a variety of activities to learn while playing, and play while learning to be effective.
A representative of a 12th grade student asked: What measures does the school take to make students feel happy, safe, and respected when coming to school?
Mr. Le Xuan Trung said that the school is simultaneously implementing groups of solutions such as: Comprehensive education, creating many useful and interesting playgrounds for students to explore their own abilities; instructing teachers to innovate teaching, how to make students interested in each lesson; thoroughly implementing teachers listening to students' wishes and desires.
“We will certainly have times when we make mistakes, not only students but also teachers. Homeroom teachers or subject teachers must have an approach, share, and be forgiving. How can we make every student miss school when they don't come? Every day at school is a day of joy and responsibility. But if you only see discipline and no joy at school, it is very stressful," said Mr. Le Xuan Trung.
Wanting the school leaders to answer more clearly, a 12th grade student asked: What has the school done to respect the individuality of students? How can we promote the uniqueness of each student?
According to Mr. Xuan Trung, in developed countries, teachers often give each student a different lesson plan. But the number of students is 15 - 25 students/class. But the number of students in Vietnam is more, around 45 students/class. For example, Le Loi High School is a high-quality school, so the number of students is lower, from 30 - 35 students. This issue has been discussed a lot by the school on how to promote students' abilities most effectively. Teachers have done it, and students also need to make efforts to study more effectively...
Many students also asked questions related to future career orientation. The Board of Directors of Le Loi High School gave advice: students should choose the career they are passionate about and like the most, then study the most effective subjects. In the near future, the school will deploy a set of assessment tools for students so that they can understand more about their own abilities. From there, they can orient their careers appropriately. Most importantly, students should live with true passion and aspiration. When they are passionate about something, they will definitely succeed.
