Launched in Vietnam since 2019, the Solve for Tomorrow competition is constantly innovating to encourage students to apply STEM knowledge ( science , technology, engineering and mathematics) to solve life problems.

A new wind brings entrepreneurial spirit

In its 6th season, Solve for Tomorrow 2024 creates excitement with a new breeze that encourages entrepreneurial spirit for students.

The products of the competing teams must not only be high-tech solutions, but also need to be accompanied by a clear business plan to bring the products to consumers.

Only then will technology projects have a development life cycle beyond the framework of the competition to be replicated and applied in practice.

At this year's final round, students surprised everyone with their outstanding technology projects, the result of their in-depth research and study to solve problems in life such as the system to monitor and warn children when they fall asleep in the car;

Smart application to protect children and women from the risk of violence, abuse and kidnapping; Application to warn of landslides, fires and explosions in the home...

These projects become more useful when they are replicated in real life, and Solve for Tomorrow is the bridge for a challenging journey: turning these ideas into real technology solutions and bringing these solutions to users.

Applying AI, IoT… to enhance technology projects

In fact, the highly rated projects in the Solve for Tomorrow competition are the clearest demonstration of the goals the program is pursuing.

Ranked first in Group B (for high school students), the project Smart application to warn of dangerous situations for children and women by Supernova team (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang ) is a comprehensive solution, combining artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze situations, recognize sounds and voices to warn and automatically detect unusual dangers. This is also the project's outstanding point compared to existing products.

As for the project Applying smart technology to breed and raise rare insects, which won first prize in group A (for secondary school students), the Small Warriors team (Him Lam Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Hau Giang ) applied IoT technology to create an incubator, a water bug, and an automatic system for raising water bugs and commercial water bugs.

At the same time, the project also applies AI technology to create chatbots to accompany and connect scientists, farmers, businesses, and the state sector.

“The project of applying smart technology in breeding and raising rare insects will contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture, help protect biodiversity and create a nutritious and environmentally friendly food source. This is an important step in promoting green agriculture and optimizing resources for the future.”

The above message from the project of the young people of Him Lam Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities not only conquered the judges, but also demonstrated the talent of Vietnamese youth in creating and applying science and technology to serve life.

With the advent of the AI era, humanity is experiencing a major turning point. Many scholars are actively discussing the value and role of humans in the AI era.

However, in the inevitable process of change, creative thinking and human problem-solving ability are increasingly emphasized.

Countries around the world are constantly competing to improve these capabilities.

In that context, the Solve for Tomorrow program helps to enhance students’ creativity and social problem-solving abilities. We look forward to receiving more attention and participation from the Vietnamese education sector so that the program can continue to develop further.
