On August 20, a clip was circulated on social media showing a car on fire in Hanoi . When the fire broke out fiercely, a bus driver ran over and used a fire extinguisher to rescue and put out the fire.

The incident was shared on many traffic forums. Hundreds of social media users left comments praising the male driver for his decisive and timely actions in assisting others on the road.

According to initial information, the male driver in the clip is Mr. Nguyen Van Xuyen (Vinbus driver). Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Xuyen said the incident happened at noon on August 17.

At this time, the male driver was driving the bus from Smart City urban area (Nam Tu Liem district) to Hanoi's inter-agency area (Tay Ho district).

At around 11am the same day, the bus had almost reached the end of the Thang Long Avenue service road. At the intersection of Ring Road 3 and Thang Long Avenue, the male driver saw a car on fire. The fire broke out from under the car, causing the two people in the car to panic, not knowing what to do. At this time, traffic through the area was partially congested.

"Seeing that no one had come to their aid, I immediately thought of the fire extinguisher on the bus, so I quickly told the bus attendant that I would get off to help," said Mr. Xuyen, adding that he then steered the bus over, placed a warning sign, and asked passengers for permission to inform them that the journey might be delayed.

The male driver and the busboy then quickly got out. They used up the first fire extinguisher but the fire continued to burn fiercely. While Mr. Xuyen was putting out the fire, the male driver promptly ran back to the cabin to get his phone and personal documents inside.

Only when Mr. Xuyen took down the second large fire extinguisher and used it, the fire was controlled.

"I only had time to hear them say thank you and then quickly drive on their way," added Nguyen Van Xuyen.

On August 20, when the clip recording the incident was shared on many traffic forums, the male driver said that what made him happiest was that no one was injured in this incident. "I am a driver, so I will definitely help people in accidents on the road. Especially in the situation where I have all the conditions to do this," he continued.

Speaking further with Tuoi Tre Online , the commander of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi Police) confirmed the incident and said that there were no casualties after the incident.

Police quickly arrived to assist the victims in resolving the incident and directing traffic through the area.
