According to the latest test results, the sunscreen product Esunvy Sun Care SPF 50+ PA++++ only has an SPF index of 10, while the declared SPF on the packaging is SPF 50+.
This significant difference can directly affect the effectiveness of skin protection for consumers, especially in hot and sunny conditions and the increasing risk of skin cancer.

In this situation, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the Departments of Health to immediately stop trading and using the above products, and at the same time take measures to seal, preserve or return the products to the suppliers. Relevant units need to inspect and supervise the implementation of this decision and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.
Meracine Pharmaceutical Research and Production Joint Stock Company (manufacturer) and Tin Phong Pharmaceutical Company Limited (distributor) are required to announce product recall nationwide, receive returned products from pharmacies and agents, and coordinate with authorities to take samples for re-testing.
The Drug Administration also requested these two companies to review the entire production and preservation process of the products to determine the cause of the index deviation, and report the results to the Department before October 15, 2025.
The Department of Health of Bac Ninh province, where Meracine's factory is located, was assigned to supervise the suspension of circulation, coordinate sampling of the entire product batch to send to the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute to re-evaluate the sun protection index.
Previously, Meracine Company said it had sent product samples to a testing unit in Taiwan (China) and the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute for analysis, in which the test results were consistent with the announced index.
However, due to the discrepancy between the test results, the Drug Administration said it needed more time to verify and clarify the cause, and decided to temporarily suspend the product's circulation until there was an official conclusion.
Currently, consumers are advised to stop using the product Esunvy Sun Care SPF 50+ PA++++ and contact pharmacies and retailers to return the product according to instructions.
It is known that, to manage cosmetics, the Drug Administration ( Ministry of Health ) has proposed 4 key groups of solutions to tighten the management of cosmetics. First of all, it is necessary to strengthen post-inspection, carry out periodic inspections on the market, and strictly handle violations related to the announcement, advertising and production of cosmetics.
Building a transparent database that allows easy traceability of products is also an important step forward. In addition, it is necessary to support the development of the domestic cosmetics industry by encouraging businesses to invest in research and development (R&D), improve production technology, and raise quality standards. Building a Vietnamese cosmetic brand based on indigenous ingredients and natural herbs is also proposed as a strategic direction.
In addition, raising consumer awareness is a key factor. Communication campaigns need to be widely deployed to disseminate knowledge about safe cosmetics, guide the selection of reputable products and encourage consumers to use product declaration checking tools through the Drug Administration's information portal.
In addition, inter-sectoral coordination between agencies such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Customs, Market Management and the Police needs to be promoted, combined with learning from international experiences to improve management capacity.
